so I was feeling good, and really can not afford my dr anymore. So I went off meds a couple of weeks ago. Was feeling real good. Like I stated in another post i was able to do the tredmill agin for the first time in years. Did a coule of days of exericse, and was even able to mow the lawn!! Today I am starting to get sharp pain again in my ankle. (bummer) Its the first symptom i have had in weeks. could it be the lyme again, or just from the exericse? Like I said it is the only thing that feels bad right now.

not again,

Hey hun. I'm so sorry your ankle is hurting. Is it the same exact pain as before or do you think you twisted it somehow? We can't really say if it's Lyme again and I hate that we all have to have that in the back of our minds when something goes wrong. Lyme affects so many different parts of the body that we just don't know what's Lyme and what's a "normal" pain anymore.

Maybe stay off of it a day or two and see if it gets better. I'm so sorry this is happening to you.

So, you got off of your antibiotics before you were supposed to? How much longer did your doctor want you on treatment?

I was on treatment for a year. I finished the year and went off of them. UM My doctor does not know. I just have not made an apt. I cant really afford to go and he is not really the best. He only had me on Teteracycline. Since I had been feeling good I just decided to stop. The meds were giving me some strange side effects now too. I know I should call him and have some blood work done, but I have no insurance and not alot of money. Single mom and lost one of my jobs.

Yikes! I'm so sorry. It must be really tough. Is there anyway you can get some kind of assistance until you get back on your feet?

Also, do you take supplements? That may help keep everything at bay until you can see another LLMD again.

I dont think I can get assistance. No I do not take any supplements. I almost am thinking of just doing it myself with out a doctor. I just would like to have some more blood tests done first. for liver and thyriod. I know I cant afford alot of the doctors cause they are so expensive, At least the one I have is not to expensive. but still.

Go get you some garlic and Vitamin C supplements. Echinacea has also been helping me out. They are all immune boosters. Start off with at least 1000mg of Vitamin C. You can slowly work your way up to 3000mg. Maybe this will help until you can see a doctor. It'll keep your immune system up and working.

I take an ordorless organic garlic suuplement called Kyolic Aged Garlic Extract. It has no smell. Some people have problems with the smell coming through their skin. This one won't do that. It goes through an extraction process to eliminate odor. Believe me, I'm very funny about hygiene. I'd be the first one to stop taking it.

I got mine from a lady here that is a licensed supplier but I'm sure you can get it online or at a health food store.

Don't do too much too fast. It is great to feel well again but take it easier.
Try swimming or walking.
And take your vitamins.
I was told at envita to get out of the gym as I was healing. They said it was too much stress for my healing body.
So....I am flabby now..but looking to get back into it...but a much slower pace than I am use to.

I agree with Martha's Vineyard- it's really important to start slowly. Make sure you stretch, and stop BEFORE you hurt, or feel exhausted.

You need to work your way up slowly. Were you doing much walking before you used the treadmill? If not, I would suggest starting with walking. Running is really hard on your joints, and could be making you hurt just because of all the impact and stress, and not because of Lyme.

Hey CG~ As a Mod., maybe you can help - what about setting up a post in the same area as the 'newbie" posts is in,

just for those of us who are 'struggling' because of financial issues or just can't travel far enough to get to a LLMD?

I was thinking that only those mods who know about the "alternative" tx? & I know that it could be 'locked', so that only mods can post there.

I know that I am really having a hard time trying to figure out homeopathic tx, & supplements.

Just a thought ~

I did not do much walking befor the treadmill. But For my job iam a nanny of 3 so IAm used to being on my feet and active most of the time. I took a couple of days off from the running and seem to not have the pain anymore. I am going to try to walk on the treadmill tomorrow and see how that goes.

I am so sorry you have to go through this again. I was only diagnosed a week ago but my symptoms started a few months ago. I had no idea it was Lyme Disease because I didn't have the classic symptoms. I was in the hospital for 2 days and received IV antibiotics and was prescribed Ceftin for 3 weeks. One day I feel great, the next I am itching and miserable again. I can only imagine how you must feel! I don't want to discourage you but I have read that symptoms can reappear even years after the disease is gone.

I hope you feel better soon!

Definitely keep working it out. Nothing boosts your immune system more than breaking a sweat.

Of course go slow and remember to stretch afterwords.....the most important part!

Good luck! Try not to worry nor get discouraged.

Not Again, I'm sorry I don't have much more to add than the others here. Except that (of course I am no Dr!) I believe you can take higher doses of vite C -- esp when you are attacking something. If it causes diahwhatever, then you have had enough and will know what dose you can handle. AS I said before, I can take 10,000 mg w/o the diah problem. And, from what I have read (for years) is that C is water soluble, meaning it does not build up in your body and cause any kind of overdose. Whatever you body does not need is pee'd out.

Walmart has odorless garlic that is very cheap. The quality? I don't know, but I have been taking it for years. Used to take once per day, then twice, and now w/ all the infections, am taking it 3 times per day.

Make sure you buy the bottle of odorless GELTABS and NOT 'odorless' PILLS!! You can open the 'odorless' pills and freaking SMELL all the garlic. Not so w/ the gel tabs.

I wanna add that for as long as I can remember, at least since my married life, that I have NEVER taken doses of C less than 1500 mg per day. Like a regular deal -- not when ill. I realize everyone is different, but keep in mind, your body will release what it does not need.
