Hi again,

Well, my doc gave me some Doxycycline for potential Lyme (bitten 3 weeks ago, had a rash around the bite but no testing).

No one told me that you have to take it away from food, so for the first 4 days of my treatment I was taking it practically on top of meals!

I have been prescribed enough pills for 28 days.  Am I totally screwed because I ate food close to my meds?  Is it like I never even took it?  I don't think my doc will be willing to give more.

Thanks!

looking,

I think it is okay to take food with Doxy. Dairy is what you should stay away from. Here is a great link that explains everything you need to do why on Doxy.

>Take doxycycline with food or following a meal. If you have taken doxycycline on an empty stomach before and gotten away with it, the next time may be different. Doxycycline induced nausea is quite unpleasant and more serious stomach irritation can occur.<

Thanks everyone for replies. I don't know how to reply directly to a reply (new to this forum)!

looking,

You're replying the right way. If you want to reply to a certain person, just put their user name at the top of the post.
