First, a thank you to Peter for granting me permission to post here.

I am writing an article about kids and Lyme disease for Parents magazine. I'd love to talk to a parent who had trouble getting his/her child diagnosed (kid was misdiagnosed, treated for other things, or the complaints were ignored by docs). Or a parent who was totally surprised by the diagnosis (had no idea Lyme disease was a problem, didn't know kid had been bitten by tick). Or even a parent whose child needs long-term treatment (the standard antibiotic treatment didn't do the trick). The child should be between the ages of 1 and 7 (but if the diagnosis occurred during this time, but he's now older, that would work too).

Please email me at healthywriter@gmail.com, and include your name, your child's name and age, your city/state, and contact info (email and phone).

I need replies by next Wednesday, Sept. 3.

Thank you.

TY for shedding light and seeking true stories regarding the travesty in late diagnosis, particularly for children.

You may contact me. I can offer other referrals if u are seeking that as well.
My email address is the highlighted envelope.

It's the magazine's demographics (moms of kids age 8, maybe 9, and younger). The mag prefers to skew stories toward parents of younger children.

Good question.

Lyme can affect the mom's too. And if a mom gets it, it can affect their unborn children. The article might want to focus on the effects of the kids as well as the parents.

Hi lymewriter,

My three young children are all infected and are much improved after a year of treatment. I have sent you an e-mail as well.

Thank you so much for writing this article.
