I am paying out of pocket as I go with funds set aside for retirement/emergencies. Lyme qualifies. My doc opted out of the insurance end because of the constant hassles he was given.

Knice,

I can't find it right now, but I have contact information for a Canadian pharmacy that may be able to help you. I am taking mepron for babesia and as I understand it the insurance will pay for 21 days and then I'm on my own for the next 4-6 months (optomistic time table). Price for 28 days is in the $1,000 to $1,200 range but this place sells it for $750. If I can't find the paper I wrote it on and you think this might help I will call my doctor's office to get the info again.

Hi Knice,

I see you're taking the generic form of Rocephin. The generic costs about $400.00 a month out of pocket. That doesn't include everything else you need though.

Do you have a family member that is a nurse, that may know how to get your supplies for cheaper?

Also, if you read the IDSA guidelines(insurance companies go by this), you will see that it says that if a patient is still sick or relapses after IV amtibiotics are administered, that patient may have to treat for longer than 28 days. I would appeal that decision if I were you.

FYI - Apria is $227/day for Rocephin and supplies. Infuse America will be costing us $70/day for the same thing! So for out-of-pocket payees such as us, it's a great way to go -- if there is one!
