My Lyme is pretty much exclusively in the brain. Due to that I pretty much rely on ativan and vallium. Do any of you know about klonopin for anxiety?

Hey Skagey Guy,

Klonopin has a longer half life, meaning it lasts longer in the body....sometimes up to 12 hours. I started off on Xanex, then Ativan and now Klonopin. The Xanex and Ativan were only lasting 4-6 hours so it was nice that Klonopin lasted so much longer. I have panic attacks and anxiety and it works great for both.

Skagey guy,
I'm on klonopin because it lowers the CNS (central nervous system), and that helps me get to sleep. Otherwise, my brain is revved up too high to get into the deep sleep we need to heal.
1978: Got the "flu that never goes away" later diagnosed as CFS. (Slept a lot, no energy, gradually got better)

1986: Had a serious relapse, insomnia set in, later diagnosed as FM with tender points. (Some pain and stiffness, but the sleep disorder top problem)

2007: Diagnosed with Lyme disease.

Daisys - thanks for mentioning that. I'm going to ask my doctor about klonopin. What you said - brain revved up - that's exactly how I am. It's as if I am on caffeine all of the time and, as you say, that is not a condition conducive to sleep. One question: does it bother your stomach? I started on trazodone, and it helped me sleep, but it gave me a terrible stomach ache.

Rose,

The best way to take Klonopin is to melt it under your tongue. It's gets in your system faster and doesn't upset your stomach.
