increased white blood cells

anybody know if increased white blood cells is common with Lyme disease? I cannot find anything on it. THanks confused

Hi MrsIdaho,

Increased white blood cells means that your body is trying to fight off an infection. Many of us have this. I'm not sure that it means that someone has Lyme, but it is definitely fighting something off. I've had elevated white blood cells for a few years now.

Man, I love that state!! Spent quite a few childhood yrs there!! Waaaaaaaaaayyy up at the north end!

I too have elevated white cell counts - have for yrs as well. I've always just assumed that it was as CG said - fighting an infection, & I assumed it was the Lyme or other TBI's.
It's been said:LD patients can be as ill as people w/ congest. heart failure & in as much pain as post-op patients.
