cry   Just wondering if anyone knows of a LLMD in Oklahoma, preferably in Oklahoma City.  My regular MD has been trying to help, but she doesn't know what else to try.
Thanks!

Hi Katie,

Welcome to the forum!

I'm going to answer your question here about the flares you've been having. Yes, you can have flares with Lyme Disease. You can feel like your old self one day, then feel bad again the next day. When I first started getting sick, I felt good for months at a time with just a few symptoms, but I was functioning. Now, I barely have any good days at all. It is so very important to find an LLMD and get treatment the right way. I hate it when doctors don't treat long enough because I know what I've been through and I don't want someone else to be in my shoes.

Anyway, here is some information for you to find an LLMD in your area:

For information on finding a Lyme Literate Medical Doctor(LLMD) in your area, please email our long time member, Ticker at:
ko_@bellsouth.net

If you'd like more doctor suggestions, you can email stephanie at: stephanie@turnthecorner.org You can also go to: www.turnthecorner.org/bod.htm if you want to learn a little bit more about Lyme Disease.

You will want to find an ILADS(International Lyme And Associated Diseases Society) doctor. The
ILADS site is a great place to read to get you started on your Lyme journey.
www.ilads.org/

For great info and links, please read the topic at the top of the first page of this forum tittled, "New To Lyme?......Start Here!" It will help you get started learning about lyme.

I have an appointment with my family Dr to confirm if I have LD. A year ago I got a round expanding rash on my elbow that itched like crazy and I was having horrible headaches and sore throat. The Dr I had then dismissed the headaches as stress, the sore throat as allergies and said the round rash was probably ringworm and in the same breath said "but its very strange to see it on an elbow". That was in June 2012. The antifungal didn't seem to do anything and I keep triple antibiotic ointment around and started using it. The rash cleared up but left scarring you can still see today. I never thought anymore about it. In September 2012 I left my job, moved and got married. So I was under some stress and I noticed a small itchy spot on my other elbow. It was a circle in just a couple of days. I treated it with the triple antibiotic ointment and after about 2 weeks it seemed to heal up but still left a round scar. During the first few days of that rash I also experienced headaches and sore throat but thought it was stress from the changes and allergies. Now I have a new bulls eye ring on my arm just belowy should. Again I'm under stress (which I now know can be a trigger for LD outbreaks) with losing my job and trying to go back to college) I've had a lot of the symptoms over the last year but never tied them together as LD until I googled "expanding ring shaped rash" and all these sites on Lyme Disease came up. I have diabetes. When I got the first rash I was having blood sugar reads over 400 when it had been only 160-200...still high but not 400. When the rash cleared up the sugars went back to what they were before the rash. Over the last year I'm more fatigued than ever and I am now having joint issues with my knees. In February 2012 my ex husband put my stuff outside in a storage building. There was a opossum and ferral cats living under the shed. When we moved my stuff out to my apartment in April 2012 I saw small tiny bugs that looked kind of like ticks but I had never seen any so small so I sprayed for ticks just in case but would occasionally find one in my bed. It would make sense if one bit me then and I got infected. I live near Oklahoma City and from what I have read and heard it will be an up hill battle to get my family Dr to treat it aggressively. And from what I can tell, there are no LLMD's in OKC or Oklahoma for that matter. Wish me luck....
