I'm not sure but I thought I read somewhere if you have an irregular heart beat not to do the detox baths with the salt and peroxide. I have a Mitral Valve Prolapse.  I take meds for it also , So I  was just wondering If I could do the dextox baths ? I really want to try them but do not want my heart to go crazy. : ( I'm confused if you girls know any information on this I would really appriciate it.
One other question do Detox baths give you a Herx Reaction?
Thanks

Hey ria,

Hmmmm, I think that's a question for your doctor. Deejavu may know more about this but I'd still ask your doctor first.

Yes, you can herx after doing a detox bath or any detox. Not everyone has a herx from them but I have experienced them after detoxing. I've even ran a low grade fever. I usually feel better the next day though. I guess it depends on how much toxins you have in your body.

Thanks CajunGrl, Maybe Deejavu will know. I really want to begin them. I will also ask my doctor.
Another question If I am herxing already with body aches should I do the bath or skip it?

I'm wondering about the herx reaction and the detox baths, too. This awful sinus/ear/eye congestion I'm having may be a herx. Now I'm wondering if I should stop the baths for awhile until I'm feeling a little better, or if that would just let toxins build up and make me worse. Right now I'm afraid to do the bath because for the last two days the velocity of my symptoms were in the migraine category. I'm a little better now and don't want to make the wrong detox decision.

Willowrose You could try and cut back on the detox baths and see if you feel; better But there are about 4 people here at work with awful sinus/ear/eye congestion and they do not have Lymes Disease. I think it is just an infection going around. Hope you Feel better very soon.

Ria - How long have they been sick? I've had this for a month and a half now and I'm ready to be rid it any time now.

Hi all,

Ria, I would first check with your doctor as far as the detox baths.  Have you been taking regular baths at all knowing you have MVP?  The reason I ask is that if you have been taking baths then I don't see why adding some salts and hydogen peroxide would hurt the valve... One of the causes of MVP is lack of magnesium which the detox bath would give you but I don't know your condition and I'm not a doctor.

Rose, one of the purposes of detox baths is to minimize herxing.   A herx translated means one of feeling the effects of toxins in their body (the die-offs of bacteria plus normal "every day" toxins).

Hope this helps,
Denise

Thanks, Denise, I'm creeping off to the bathtub now. A little scared but having faith that it won't bring on another horrible migraine like I had on Tuesday. I certainly don't want toxins building up.

Hi All!
Rose, When I first started my detox baths (a couple of months ago), I would end up with a migraine each time. I ended up having to take only one detox bath a week & have slowly built from there. At this point I am feeling marketed improvements in my sx.

I hope your bath went well & you were able to get some much-needed rest tonight!!

Traveler - thank you for telling me that! I hadn't put it together until my chiropractor asked yesterday what I'd been doing new for the last month and a half and I remembered I've been doing the body brushing and detox baths. Tonight I did 15 minutes instead of 30, and I think I will skip a day before doing it again. good idea to build up to it. I tend to not have much common sense when it comes to trying new things; always throw myself into it and suffer the consequences later. Anyway, it's good to have another person who thinks this headache may be part of the detox process. And i am happy to hear you are feeling improvement. Something to look forward to for me!

I have an irregular heartbeat and mitral valve prolapse as well. Diagnosed with both at age 20. I am 34 and have done numerous detox baths over the years with no problem, but always good to ask your doctor. mvp is pretty common with woman and I think you will be fine. The heat can increase your heart rate but it won't hurt you.
