Has any one else had an experience like this?

Three years ago I was told I was told by endocrinologist that I would be dead in three mounts if I did not take the medicine for my thyroid he had been giving me for three years. The problem was the I was becoming allergic (my throat was swelling up if I even touched ) to all raw foods. I just did not believe that not being able to eat fruits and veggies was good for my health.

My thyroid tsh was at 83. He was sure this was not right. So he had my blood test done again without bovine. It came back with my tsh at 32. Learning that I was allergic to beef changed my life. I had been suffering with asthma. After I stopped eating beef My asthma went away. He is a smart guy.

I am still here three years later and going to see him on Monday.
My family and I have been enjoying my life without dairy gluten and soy for many years

Found out about it in spring of 2009 that I have been living with Lyme for over 8 years. My symptoms of Lyme have been Mini-Strokes/TIA's, Hashimoto's disease, Swelling of my liver and kidneys, anaphylactic reactions to raw apples, raw carrots, and Beef, Allergies to dairy, gluten, and Soy.

I would tell him "We're ALL going to die .... it doesn't take a doctor or a psychic to figure that one out, just God - and he isn't God"

yogamom,

So, are you still on thyroid meds? What caused your thyroid numbers to elevate like that?

Jelainep,
I wish I would have thought of that! That's good!

CajunGrl,
No I stopped taking them because of the side effects they were causing. I found out that all the meds given to help people with hypothyroidism. Cause some sort of allergic reaction in me. The endocrinologist told me to look into other treatments and check in with them so they could monitor my progress because they did not know what to do with me. I did.

I have been working with my oriental medicine/naturopath doctor to help support my thyroid. I have found that selenium is very helpful to my thyroid. It is amazing what a difference it makes in the way I feel. I am taking like 15 different supplements at a time right now. To help support my body. I think the reason my thyroid numbers have been so high is because of the Hashimoto's disease. Hashimoto's disease is when the bodies antibodies are attacking the bodies thyroid. May have been caused by the lymes. It seams to go with the whole I am allergic to everything thing. My body thinks it's allergic to my thyroid.

My tsh levels 6 months ago were around 10. The endocrinologist will probably order new test on Monday.

Hey again yogamom,

That's great that you found a natural way. I am about to start naturethroid for the first time. If it doesn't work, I'm going to look into a more natural way too.

I am about to start supplements myself. I'm trying to get my body balanced. The lady that supplies my supplents thinks she can get me back on my feet. She has already helped so many people. I'm praying it all helps. I want to be able to function.

Btw, I'm glad those things are working for you. Sometimes we have to take control over our own health.

You are so right! We have to take control over our own health. We only get 15 min with our MD's most of the time. They only know what we tell them.

I hope naturethroid works for you. I think I tried that one too. I wish it was as easy as a one treatment fit all but it seams we are all different.

I have been practicing yoga for over 10 years and signed up for yoga teacher training at the age of 40. Last spring before I was diagnosed. Exercise has always made me feel better. Now I know why. Unfortunately exercise did not remove the bacteria from my body. It just kept my symptoms down. School started in October and it has been tough going. I think the Power vinasa yoga, kiatsu, breathing, nia and diet are all a big part of why I am doing as well as I am doing. (I am tring to look at this in a positive light)
I can't even imagine what shape I would be in without all of it.

I think that treating the symptoms is helpful for comfort but I want to treat the cause. I am always asking What dose this do? Why are you recommending this? My oriental medicine/naturopath doctor thinks I should go to medical school. LOL I think she is just being nice. I have scrambled brains at the moment.

It's never too late to go back to school. Maybe that can be a goal for you. I'm 39, and just last year, I finished EKG and Phlebotomy. I was supposed to go right into getting my LPN license but got sick. I'm hoping to get better soon so that I can accomplish that.
