There isn't a llmd in town. Closest one charges $700 per visit. I am going to have to look toward natural remedies. I heard there is one that uses 4 ingredients including salt and vit.C. Anyone know about it? Is it a waste of time? Any other successes with natural remedies?

I have been on doxy for 18 weeks and my joints are killing me. My doctor has no clue on how to treat this. He says 21 days on doxy should have done the trick. I am desperate. Please help.

Hi momtomonsters,

Vitamin C and Salt protocol is iffy. I've read a few websites that say it works but haven't really talked to anyone that had success with it. It can also bring your blood pressure up.

If you look in the sticky titled, "New To Lyme?....Start Here!", there is information there about natural protocols. Deejavu had success with Jernigan's protocol. There were a few here that did good on zhangs and a few are now on Cowden's. I think PSR1 is feeling better from Cowden's.

It is so frustrating having a doctor who reads the cdc guidelines for treatment and nothing more. He doesn't belive in co-infections or the need for more than doxy. I have faxed my results to several docs to get an answer as to do I really have lyme. If I do, then I will travel and save the $$ to see Dr. H. or or someone else. I am beyond frustrated. I now have such severe arthritis in my knees that my only hope for relief is a total knee replacement. Doc says not until I am 60. I am 43. I have to wait in pain for 17 years for some relief. I don't think I can do that.

momtomonsters,

I wonder if your knee would get better with treatment? RottenDog, a member here, had similiar problems before she found out she had Lyme Disease. She had surgery and it really hasn't helped much.

perhaps having more Doctors that treat Lyme would be the answer.

It doesn't make any sense for doctors to be ok with prescribing a couple of years of doxy for people with acne - as they did for my daughter, yet be fearful to allow more than 3 weeks of it for people with lyme disease - as they were for me.

I've had LD since 1993 - but didn't know it for 10 years. By then it was too late for complete eradication. I could order abx for myself, yet fear doing it. Instead I've tried finding herbal supplements to build up the immune system and come to some kind of symbiotic balance with the disease. I know it's a losing game - ever so often I get a strong probelm in a new part of my body. Always somewhere that I never expected. When I tested positive in the CNS I did get 4 weeks of IV, so I know my mind is affected. I've read a lot about lyme alzheimer's so expect that eventually the bacteria will win.

It's hard to find a balance of which supplements to take and how many and how often. Trial and error is the only choice when doctors leave you out there all alone. Read, read, read. Salt/C doesn't seem sensible because of the blood pressure problems. Try vitamins that wash out of your system immediately and see how you feel (some of the B's and C's). Add others one at a time slowly, and try to check what they do. Be as careful with the herbal antibiotics as you would be with the manmade ones. Check on their side effects and figure what you can deal with and what you can't. Pain relief is out there somewhere - it's just never immediate.

I don't have any other advice, but it doesn't help to lay blame on any one's choices. We don't need the stress. Sleep, rest, pray and be careful - there isn't anything else we can do. Ginnia

I'm sorry but this discussion has gotten out of hand and off topic. Any furthur discussion about purchasing medication online without a prescription, and your post will be deleted.

Hi momtomonsters,

As CG stated, I have been in remission for 4 years now after using Dr. Jernigan's protocol which I did at home.  His botanicals cost me $100.00 a month plus the cost of epsom salts, hydrogen peroxide, and other supplements that I added.

I believe you have nothing to lose by reading his book called "Beating Lyme Disease", 2nd edition which can be bought below (soft cover is less money):

To this day I continue detoxing, exercising and eating right.  I believe detoxing is half the battle not only with this disease but with most diseases.   Lyme bacteria die by themselves leaving toxins that if not eliminated from one's body get recycled only causing more problems.

Ginnia, I went undiagnosed for over 5 years and within 1 year I was all better after using Dr. J's protocol.   I do not believe it's a losing game at all..   There is a member here who was misdiagnosed for about 30 years and she has her life back after following Dr. J's protocol and going to his clinic.

Are you detoxing on a daily basis?

Hope this helps,
Denise

The key to going natural is to make your the body is well balanced enough to your body's own immunity can fight the bacteria.

No protocol, whether meds or natural can work if you're out of balance.

The key to going natural is to make sure your body is detoxed. Once you're detoxing well, you can start herbs, mineral, vitamins, sups and also changing the diet is the key and ONLY  way to stay healthy.

I took abx for 5 months, They didn't do the trick. I went all natural as I talked about above and I'm fine now.
