Not getting the concept really. Does it simply mean you feel like poo? How long does it last?

I asked my Doc what's the difference between a Herx and a bad day and he said... A bad day is a herx. Although I hate having bad days, I know it just means my meds are working. The detox baths definitely help though. I also drink a detox tea.

I really got strict with my diet too and that has helped so much. Yesterday though I had rice, a cupcake, and 2 cookies and today I am in tons and tons of pain. Sooo today is not a herx, it is a self induced bad day.

Mother,

You can usually tell when you are herxing because all of your symptoms get worse. If you have pain as a symptom, it gets a lot worse. If you have anxiety, it gets worse. Everything usually gets worse or you'll have old symptoms come back that you haven't had in a year or so and sometimes, you'll have new symptoms too. A herxheimer means the worsening of symptoms.

Jenn is right. Eating bad can make you feel bad too but the difference is that a herx is from bacteria die off. The die off release toxins in your body that your liver can't filter out fast enough. This is what causes the worsening of symptoms. That's why is important to detox.

Are you doing any sort of detoxing for now? It helped me a lot when the toxins were affecting my brain.

You are probably herxing. Keep detoxing. It will help. Make sure you start off slow when you do the detox baths. You may want to stay in for only 10 minutes at the beginning.

I started out 20 minutes, but I only did 2 cups of salts instead of 4, and half bottle of hyd-per. I did that for 2 weeks, and now I'm up to the normal time and "dosage". My body does not like it if I skip a day either!

The other thing that makes a difference for me is teas. There's a brand called Yogi, you can get it at health food stores or even Target. They have different ones for different things. I like Vitality, Revive, and Detox. They are filled with lots of great herbs. The box explains what they are good for, makes a big difference in my day.

Make sure you are drinking plenty of water before and after you detox.
