I'm on the shot once a week and notice it wears off fourth day in or so it seems. All my symptoms come back around the forth day. I'm not in remission or anything, but a whole lot better after I get the shot, I would say by day two I'm much better. Day 6 and 7 old symptoms reappear. Who has done shots twice a week?
Thanks,

Linda
Very mild left sided (could have fooled me with the "mild")  UC.Just found out 4 years into it I might have Lyme's Disease, going to a LLMD in December. Confirmed Lymes on 12/8/09 before my new antibiotic protocal from my LLMD, I  Started and stopped LDN ON 1/25/09 to mid May no improvements. Tried Asacol, Pentesa, Colozol, Sulfasulsadine and Lialda, they made me worse. A range of antibiotics, not much better. Supplements: Threelac, multi, iron, very low yeast/sugar/wheat  No UC meds at this time. Started Doxy and Cedfinir too rough on stomach, started Bicillin injection 1/12/10, month into treatment. about the same.

Linda,
I started. Had it on Sat. Wow that hurt bad. I have a big knot on my butt. I am in the middle of a herx. Really achy and flu like. I will let you know how it goes. My next shot is Friday. Are you sure it isn't a herx. I read somewhere that bicillin herxes can be pretty yucky and lengthy. Did you feel better right after your shot? I felt worse. Let u know how it goes.

I took them 2x and then upped to 3x a week. (2.4 mu at each dose)

if you are on 1.2 mu once a week its probablly not enough, but I am not a doctor!

Hi Lovelabs and Merrygirl,

I felt better within 3 days of the shot, my gut that is. My emotions were off the wall! I felt like crying for no reason. That has gone away. Today was my second shot in my butt? My nurse practioner was very surprised it was given in the butt. The instructions were:

where your crack starts to split at the top (funny huh?) to the right or left of that about 3 inches. Where do you get your Lovelabs? Yes there was a knot as well for me.

My syringe said 1,200,000 iu or something like that. It's the Bicillin L-A

I like it a whole lot so far!

Hugs,

Linda

i think bicillin always gets injected into your butt. after the shot you can take a nice hot bath it will help the pain. Do you guys use emla numbing cream before the injection?

It has really helped me, I hope it helps you too!

I didn't use any umbing cream. Maybe on Friday I will. Question- how long do LLMD's keep you on bicillin? We didn't discuss it. Maybe he wanted to see how I do? I heard it can be a long time for good results. And do they usually up it to twice a week? I am small. 5ft 3in, 106 lbs. Maybe it goes by weight?

Its called EMLA cream you need an rx for it but its cheap. put it on 1 hour ( i used to leave it on 1.5 hours) and it completely numbs the skin so you dont feel the stick of that huge needle. It doesnt do anything to the nuscle though.

I know they gave me 2.4 mu 3x a week due to my size (plus sized) and it may go by weight, however I think in my non medical opinion you need it 2x a week, and maybe that is the eventual plan? It takes a few months to notice any inprovements, but I would say you need to be on them 6 months I think (kind of a guess) I was on them 14 months.

Thanks Merrygirl,
we'll have to see what my LLMD decides for me. The needle prick doesn't bother me, it is the muscle that hurts. But I may check into the cream anyway. Noticed you are hypothyroid. Was yours caused by Lyme? Mine was. Never ends huh? 14 months of bicillin? Did it help you? How was it when you stopped?

HI Ladies,

I have script for 10 weeks of the shot and we go from there. So I shouldn't expect to see an improvement in the first two shots?  I feel like my energy is better, maybe thats the Co Q10 I'm taking but my stools are not any better, nor my gut. I had my second shot yesterday. I can stand the bite of the shot, I just can't sleep on that cheek at night. Day two of the shot, much less pain.

I wouldnt expect to see earthshattering results with one shot a week for 10 weeks. thats my expereince though and I am not a doc. It took 3-4 months before I noticed any improvements, besides my chronic diarrhea.

it does appear that my hypothyroid was caused by Lyme. thats realtively new dx for me.
I did have improvemenst from bicillin. when I stopped it I was off abx alltogether. I was left with pain and fatigue some twitching. t hats about it.

good luck

Felt good for 2 days. Woke up today like a truck hit me. I was so excited yesterday that I would only feel bad for a day or so after the shot. Sad. Another one on Friday could be a bumpy road. What were your herxes like?

Hi merrygirl,

I didn't understand what you meant by diarreah, it improved or was worse because of the Bicillin? Please explain, b/c I have diarreah, but par for the course with UC and my stools are not any better. No formation at all, and my gut hurts. Thanks Linda
