Hello I am new to this forum -it seems very friendly and helpful. My daughter is recovering from long term chronic lyme with all the usual denials by doctors, referrals to psychologists etc - she is 18 now. We of course have a story to tell as has everyone - I wanted to ask a couple of questions and perhaps we can help too in some way as we decided not to take the antibiotic route, we were lucky enough to be offered an alternative of taking colloidal silver as the antibiotic combined with teasel root. We tried this because by this time my daughter was extremely sick, only weighed 6 stone and the treatment advised of 8 weeks IV followed by 18 months antibiotics we really didn't think she was strong enough to cope with. Of course this was backed up with loads of supplements, ****su massage (very helpful) organic food and other natural supports.
My questions are can anyone help with fungal infections of the toenails. These are persisting and even seem to be getting worse. Another question (am I asking too much under one subject title) my daughter has an underactive thyroid apparently now it seems triggered by the Lyme which is really not under control despite taking thyroxine does anyone else have this along with their Lyme ?

At a guess your daughter is dealing with a candida infection. If you google candida symptoms, you will find lots of good info on what to look for and how to fix it naturally. Fungus infections of the nails and low thyroid are both signs of a candida infection. Candida infections symptoms mirror many Lyme symptoms and it is hard to tell which symptoms belong to which at times.

The thyroid also needs iodine and selenium to function correctly, so make sure these minerals are included in her daily diet/supplement routine.

Biotin, zinc, antifungal tannins, caprylic acid, garlic, grapefruit seed extract, oregano & thyme, probiotics, etc. are also all good for fungal infections.

And applying oregano oil (dilute 50:50 in veg. oil - coconut oil would be great cuz then you get the caprylic acid too) to the feet a couple times a day may also help get rid of the toenail fungus.

My brother was told to never wear the same shoes two days in a row to give the shoes time to air out. This reduces bacteria, fungus, etc. growing in the shoes. Also frequent foot washing is a good idea.
