Hi all, my LLMD has suggested I buy a Far IR sauna, to not only detox but to open the blood vessels in my skin and stimulate the nerves under my skin as when the temperature outside falls to below freezing my body cannot seem to take it. It really hurts and makes me feel so rough. So does anyone use a Far IR sauna?? And are they worth spending loads of cash on?

Cheers Mik.

Definitely worth the money, sauna helped me tremendously. I also have trouble tolerating the cold temps. Just make sure you buy a good one as some have glues, etc. that are not healthy. Look here. www.heavenlyheatsaunas.com  I am going to purchase one of these when I get settled.  D

I bought a portable one from ebay and really like it. I use it daily and get a good sweat with it. I am counting on it helping me to detox.

I have a portable one from ebay too. It works just as good as the expensive ones.

Thanks for the comments, I think you have all made up my mind and I'll maybe even buy one today. Due to lack of space (and money) the portable type seems to be the way to go.

Thanks Mik

I have a full size 2 person one. I got it at BJ's Wholesale Club for $500 (half price). It is well worth it. I love it and use it all the time.

Well I've taken the plunge and ordered one, maybe it will be here for the weekend. I'll let you know if it makes me feel any better.

mikazmat,

Which one did you get? If you got the one off of ebay, when you turn it on, make sure it is unzipped when it heats up. Start off slow. Just stay in for like 10 minutes to start, maybe even less than that....then work your way up.

It is also good to drink lots of water before, during and after. Drinking electrolytes is even better.

We had a member that left it zipped when heating it up and it melted some of the parts inside. Other than that, it works great. I love mine.

I have read where not all saunas work in fashion to help with the detox. Your average sauna in Gym is pretty hopeless when it comes to actually helping detox.

You need a sauna with which you can get to 120F for proper detoxification.

I have now bought a IR sauna and have used it every day so far. It was only a cheap (£133.00), it's one that you sit on a deck chair and zip up the front, it's silver on the outside and it make me feel a little like a space-monkey (my wife says that's exactly what I look like!). It's max temperature is 150F but I use it at around 130/140F for around 30 mins. I have to say it makes me feel great, not only does it drive away the winter blues by warming me up it also relaxes my muscles and makes my skin feel great.......................I have to say the LD has been well behaved for the last 3-4 days and my symptoms have been manageable, I really hope it does the job of detoxing my system and kicking some spirochete ass. If it doesn't, at least while I'm using it, I feel good for 30 mins. Thanks for all the advice and comments.....................

Thanks cool! Didnt take ya very long to get one. Where did you order your from?? And how long do the lights
last?? Do you have to replace them after awhile?? The cost seems resonable, I just want to be warm too. It has
been so cold lately, its going to be high of 52 today WooHoo!

Hi Harleyrider, I ordered it from e-bay.uk. I've no idea how long the elements last - they're not lamps, they're like flat, black pieces of cardboard that seem to hug you with warmth (lovely!!), I hope they don't need replacing too often as I think I need to send for parts to somewhere in china. With a little luck they'll be "eternal" lamps. I think the price works out to about $200.00 (£133.00), which seemed like a lot to spend to start with but the more I use it the better the buy gets.

52F??? You're spoilt - it's minus 3 this side of the pond..................gross!!!!

Hi all,

For so many years I wanted a Infrared FAR Sauna and I finally got one!  I bought mine from Amazon and it's the portable one person type..   I just love the way it makes me feel!  I can almost fall asleep once inside because it's so relaxing and yet I am detoxing at the same time.  Yesterday morning I spent 40 minutes in it at a hot temperature and felt so great when I got out..

This is something I can do everything morning and then start my exercise routine.

I'm grateful for all the tips that were posted here about these type of sauna's..  If one could afford to spend the money, I highly recommend it!  Wish I had bought mine years ago.   Oh, mine has the carbon panel heaters if that makes any difference.

Denise your right it makes you feel so good while your inside. The first time I used it I was amazed at
how well a person can breath inside. But I do recommend to anyone who gets one to start slow with it.
I had to take a nap later in the day because I was so exhausted from the detox part of it. My LLMD advised
me to do no more that 10 or 15 min in the beginnine and work up from that.

I want to get one too, but right now I have to go to the spa in town to use theirs.

Dr. Oz was on Oprah talking about the Sunlighten Sauna brand and how people are using it to treat Lyme and such. I bought a portable Far IR Sunlighten Sauna for hlaf price on ebay. It's one that you can lay down and pull over you, head sticks out, and it heats up to 150. Love it. I've used it most every night for months. Very durable and stylish too :)
