I went on vacation last week and didn't take my antibiotics with me (I get a muscle injection of penicillin once a week I didn't do that) and take zithromax every day didn't take this either and I'm soon to start TINI, and all I took was on my ulcertive colitis medication and taking a Diflucan for yeast every other day and yeast suppository . My stools were getting so much better! I was having some formed ones which I haven't had in years! I was passing mucus balls which I've read  CAN be a sign of the gut/colon healing.

I came home and took a zithromax and in two hours, stomach pains, diarreah and today more bloody diarreah which was practially gone when I was on vacation and off antibiotics.

Has anyone stopped antibiotics for a while (if so how long) and started them back up? I kick myself for taking the Zithromax because I felt like I was making improvement with the consistancy of my stool and the pain of passing it wasn't as bad.

I don't know what to do about the meds. The only improvement I noticed with antibiotics was my mood and energy was better, no better stools or gut pain and never a formed stool! But I'm sure it was killing the Lyme's right?

Any suggestions would be great.
Thanks so much.
Very mild left sided (could have fooled me with the "mild")  UC.Just found out 4 years into it I might have Lyme's Disease, going to a LLMD in December. Confirmed Lymes on 12/8/09 before my new antibiotic protocal from my LLMD, I  Started and stopped LDN ON 1/25/09 to mid May no improvements. Tried Asacol, Pentesa, Colozol, Sulfasulsadine and Lialda, they made me worse. A range of antibiotics (for 10 days here and there), not much better. Supplements: No UC meds at this time. Started Doxy and Cedfinir too rough on stomach, stopped those.Started Bicillin injection 1/12/10, once a week of injections. On Zithromax and Flagyl as well, about 2 year protocol to rid myself of bacteria Babesia, Chylmadia Phenomia and Borresliosis. Taking Oxy Aloe Flush and liquid vitamins, curcumin and CO Q10

no I've been tested for that many times. Ulcertive colitis is skinny, mushy stools with bloody diarreah, urgency and INFLAMMATION in the colon, it's a terrible disease!

Recommend talking with your LLMD about this. C-diff is not always caught on the first try (i.e., may take more than one test to rule it out), but I hesitate to say that is for sure what you are dealing with, given how well it cleared off the abx (C-diff doesn't usually clear immediately upon stopping the abx). Could be yeast-related diarrhea, could be die-off from the abx, or something else entirely. Did your diet change while you were on vacation? If so, what was different? Just some things to think about that may lead you to an answer...good luck,

Hi Razzle,
No diet change, but I stopped again this week and I'm having better morning! I really do I have yeast related issues. I take a suppository of Nystantin and take a oral Diflucan. My gut is better being off them. I was on them for 6 months straight, doing doxy, cednifir each for a week, they killed my gut, 4 months of WEEKLY SHOTS OF PENICLLIN, zithromax every day for four months too. I will talk to him when I go back in a month.

Thank you for helping
