I went to florida and felt better when I wasn't taking the meds, like my diarreah with skin and blood was gone. I come back, one day on zithromax back to the blood and skin. I have ulcertiive colitis probably just the lyme's in the colon and gut. That was a week ago. I'm on week two of being off meds, feel the same (blood not there though which is good) but I feel like now i'm getting a chest cold. I hope not.
I will see my doc in a couple of weeks, he's very expensive! I just don't know what to do.

Has anyone taken a break from meds?

I'm suppose to be taking a shot of Bicillin (the last shot i had, I had a "adrenaline rush my doctor told me) my heart was pounding out of my chest, so I'm scared to take another even tho I have had 14 shots already.

I'm suppose to be taking a Zithromax everyday (I  have a phenomia bacteria as well, even tho I don't have phenomia right now)

I'm suppose to start TINI which is another form of Flagly, since Flagly made me depressed, crying spells, bad yeast and just made me feel like crap.

I don't know what to do anymore. Seems like I wasn't getting better on antibiotics except for more energy, but I was still have bloody, tissue sloughing off my colon. What to do? Thanks for your help
Very mild left sided (could have fooled me with the "mild")  UC.Just found out 4 years into it I might have Lyme's Disease, going to a LLMD in December. Confirmed Lymes on 12/8/09 before my new antibiotic protocal from my LLMD, I  Started and stopped LDN ON 1/25/09 to mid May no improvements. Tried Asacol, Pentesa, Colozol, Sulfasulsadine and Lialda, they made me worse. A range of antibiotics (for 10 days here and there), not much better. Supplements: No UC meds at this time. Started Doxy and Cedfinir too rough on stomach, stopped those.Started Bicillin injection 1/12/10, once a week of injections. On Zithromax and Flagyl as well, about 2 year protocol to rid myself of bacteria Babesia, Chylmadia Phenomia and Borresliosis. Taking Oxy Aloe Flush and liquid vitamins, curcumin and CO Q10

I took a 4-5 month break from abx while being evaluated by my ID and Neuro doctors. They were both not in favor of treating lyme with long term antibiotics. My symptoms got progressively worse and I am now seeing a LLMD who has put me back on high dose abx. I'm currently on amoxicillin and zitromax and seem to be seeing some gradual improvement. In the past, I have had significant gastrointestinal issues, but I haven't had many problems with this current protocol. I take probiotics twice a day and this seems to help protect my digestive tract.

I personally needed to be off meds for a while so I could better evaluate my symptoms. It's difficult for me to determine what is a symptom vs. a drug side effect. After being med free for a while, I knew I needed to get back to some sort of treatment protocol to rid my body of lyme.

Have you discussed this issue with your doctor? Good luck with whatever you decide.

This is good to hear, thank you. My last shot of Penicillin (Bicliin) gave me an andrenal rush, I wish TO NEVER TRY AGAIN, I thought I was going to pass out from my heart beating so fast. It was like the worst panic attack ever!

I am going to tell him my next visit what I'm experiencing NOT being on antibiotics, which is no bleeding tissue coming out. We'll see what he says.

Have you ever done IV antibiotics? I don't want a port in me.

Yes, I was on IV-Rocephin for 30 days last October. I had a picc line inserted which made it really easy to administer the dosage each day. I had experienced significant improvement in my symptoms beginning in the third week of treatment. I couldn't get my ID doctor to agree to extending the treatment beyond the 30-days. I'm now back on oral abx and my new LLMD who I saw today indicated that they would eventually put me on IV-Rocephin if I am not successful with the oral meds. Have you been taking probiotics when you are on abx?

I have had several breaks. The last one was 8 months. I just went back on. I think occasional breaks are good. Maybe not 8 months though.

Yes I do take probiotics, I will ask about the IV rochephin, but I'm afraid of doing the picc line!

Hi. I went off all drugs for a month in a half when the candida/fungus overgrowth became unmanageable to give my body a chance to catch up. The good news is that the candida/fungus receded. The bad news is that my lyme symptoms, dormant for 6 months, came back. Now I'm back on meds for a little over a month, again fighting the candida/fungus, and still having some lyme symptoms. I think getting off of the meds was not helpful for me in the long run. However, I know some doctors treat that way.
