Hi everyone i went to the hansa center after looking at this website for a very long time. Unforunately after a couple weeks of being there I did not feel any better. My stomach is still a mess along with fatigue and many other things. I am still taking the medicine and it has been about a month but still nothing. what should i do now? I feel like i should be seeing a little of of something by now right? Am i just one that is never going to get better?? or what else is there to try? I heard of samento and many other things. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! thank you :)

Hi Trish,

Sorry you are having problems.  Have you talked to Dr. Jernigan as he keeps in touch with everyone I know who went to the Hansa Center.   What does he recommend?

Hi Trish, just checking in, how are you? Did being at Hansa eventually help you? I hope you are doing better.

Sorry, based on what Trish wrote, I don't believe this person went to the Hansa Center.  Just my opinion.

There are more alternative healing therapies you could still try. There's the Cowden Protocol, and Naturopath Docs, Herbalists, Acu docs...

I am seeing an Acupuncture Therapist that is also a Master Western & Chinese Herbologist.

Each of us has to keep searching until we find something that our bodies will take in & be helped by.

Just my opinion!!

Hi trish,

Not sure where you are from or if you can travel, but it might be worth your time to read about Dr. Klinghardt's protocol. He is world famous. Last I knew, he had a practice in the state of Washington. I have also heard some patients speak positively about Dr Zhang's protocol, as well as Dr Cowden's, and other's like Buhner etc. If you "google" lyme therapies etc. you will be able to read about a lot of protocols. Being a lyme patient can be extremely frustrating and difficult, and there is no "one size fits all" cure or treatment. We all must keep on trying to find out what our own bodies will respond to positively. Give a call to the Hansa center and see if they can help guide you, too. Make sure you have a good llmd or naturopath that you can keep in touch with to help manage all of this.

My daughter and I are "difficult cases" for our docs because our bodies do not tend to respond positively to treatments, or the good responses are short lived or weak. We just keep on trying and hope you do the same. We understand the frustrating question of---"What Next?" Wish I had the answer for you---for all of us!!

Best wishes, bablymers mom

Trish:

So sorry you don't feel better!  How long have you been sick?  Sometimes it takes a long time to heal if you have been ill for quite sometime.  I sure hope you'll find some relief!  You should contact Hansa center and ask for suggestions.  I know it is very discouraging to keep on treatement after treatement and still be sick.  I hope you'll find the answers!

Trav:

I keep seing you refering to acupuncture therapy. Is it for pain only, or how exactly does help with lyme? Thanks!

I went for the first 2 weeks, came home feeling GREAT - then, crashed hard. Make sure you are on ANY neuro-antitox product to prevent herxing. I just came back and I do not feel so great ~ I believe they get a lot of it, but they do not seem to "get" the rages, "herxing", etc. JMHO!!! I really LOVE the people there, they do what they know how to do. It is just very frustrating to pay so much and then be one of the ones it doesn't seem to be working for (I should know - I just went back and they already want to move me along to another Dr. but I had them test me for Mercury because I previously had toxicity and YUP it came up so I want to try this first...I was just thinking "Come on, Jowdy, don't give up on me YET! I'm not!" so we kept "peeling back the layers" and this was another layer we found. May be a long process, and I may still have to go to another dr. Or, maybe the mercury aid will help a lot (from my CRT other things ARE starting to "come back on line" so I have seen progress; just not with the intense rages which after speaking with another patient I truly believe they just cannot quite wrap their brains around yet...like I said *totally* MHO! They do LOTS of GREAT work there! And yes they should be happy to follow up with you.)

I just got back from doing Couples Energy Balancing there ~ at first we hit a MAJOR backlash, but now I can really see a major change in my husband (we were heading for the "D" word :-/ ..) and that is SO amazing :D Makes me smile to see HIM smile for once, because I know he has also taken quite a "beating" with all of this... we got to where we both repelled each other SO MUCH that his just being in the room would set me off. He was sleeping on the couch a lot, ignoring me....yelling when he did talk to me....and I'm sure I was firing right back ;P Anyways, we are doing better couple wise and that's worth the $$$$$ ~ it IS expensive, which is another reason I think people expect it to be more of an all encompasing thing (well, with the "Doctors Puzzled? Let us find the missing pieces" sign out front that IS what you expect, so those of us "sent away" or whatnot... well, it is hard. Just wanted to throw that out there. I think it is also tougher for those of us dealing with "rages" or any herxing....btw, you can get a bottle of plain "Silphitrin" and put it in your bath if you don't have a Neuro Antitox product. It says directly in Dr. Jernigan's book to use at least one of these products, however Dr. Jowdy doesn't seem to recommend them as "harshly". I personally believe that you DO need this if you are on their protocol. Again, MHO I'm not the Dr ;)

Oops!! So sorry it took me so long to get back to this thread to see your question, Simela!!!

I get acupuncture to help get my systems back up to operating levels, but I also get it for pain, as it has been proved that it is very effective in the treatment of pain. It is the only thing I have found that will even help slightly when I am one of my 'pain cycles'.

If you or anyone else is interested in finding decent Acupuncture sites, I would be happy to help direct you to the reliable sites. They also offer help in finding an Acu doc in your area. There are a few things you will want to check on before going to any acu doc, as you can have the same type of experience as DFWLyme is talking about.

Hi DFWLyme!!!
Welcome to our forum!! I am so sorry to hear of your frustrations!!! Unfortunately a lot of Lymies follow one protocol or another only to find it wasn't going to work for them.

I'm certain that you will find the people here to be kind, caring, and understanding. You would find it to be helpful if you would read the 'sticky' that is posted on the top of our forum - if you haven't read it by now. You do sound like you know what you are dealing with, so I'll spare you all the rest of what I usually say to new members - like read all that you can get your hands on & can understand, as you will need to be your own health advocate now.

I wish you the best of luck finding another doc!!! I also am looking forward to getting to know you through your posts.
May you & your husband find peace on the journey to health!

DFWLyme, thank you for sharing your experience. I am wondering, when you said they were ready to send you to another doctor - do they send people to a specific doctor, or is it just that they say they can't do any more good and they suggest another approach? If they suggest another approach, is it a specific approach, or just that something different needs to be done? I guess what I'm getting at is, from their point of view, if what they do isn't working, is there a plan B? Thanks.

DFW, yes also wondering what their plan B was for you and why they would want you to seek treatment elsewhere after only 2 weeks?

Hi DWFLyme,

Welcome!  I used Dr. Jernigan's "healing at home" protocol from his book and I also suffered from lyme rages until I got the ammonia out of my brain and body using the Neuro-Antitox CNS/PNS Formula or back then it was Silphitrin and Pale Spike Lobelia since it was a long time ago..

From my understanding from the people I know who went there,  2 weeks at the Hansa Center is only a beginning to test and diagnose where one's problems are and then the doctors work on you and when a person gets home they continue with detoxing and use all the learning tools from the doctors..  So basically it's an on-going process in order to get better..

Even though I have been well for close to 5 years, I still continue to detox, use an infrared sauna, exercise, eat healthy.   I learned alot from his book and I apply what I read to my every day life..

Don't know if this helps or not and if you want to talk about lyme rage episodes, here I am!  They were really horrible and I don't wish them on anyone..

Feel better,
Denise
