I have just looked at this because I have xrays showing atherosclerotic plaque in my abdominal aorta. It is possible that this is what my mother had (the plaque) when she had to have her Y artery replaced twice -- I'm trying to find out from her. High risk factors are smoking (includes me), high blood pressure, and a family member who has had it. It can be caused by CMV (in subject line)
I have had several high blood pressure readings the past couple years. I NEVER had any blood pressure problems until I contracted the Lyme in 2007. Granted, aging (57) and smoking have not helped. (WORKING ON THAT LIKE CRAZY NOW!!)
I have looked over CMV, but not researched deeply. But it seems this came up at times I was researching Lyme and lab work. No, I have not been diagnosed w/ this, but have not been tested yet, to my knowledge. My labwork does show HHV6, but I have no reason to believe these are related.
Does anyone know anything about this?
I am deeply concerned about this, because my mother's surgeries were major, and altho she is now 80 and going strong, she takes much better care of herself than I.
I'm also getting ready to post another question.
As always, my thoughts and prayers are w/ everyone here. The medical profession's response to this disease is a disgrace.
