Hi All,
I have started to have low grade fevers along with headaches in the afternoon again. Anyone else have this? What does your doctor think about
it? Any suggestions would be welcome.
Thanks, KO

Hi KO,
I have had the low grade fevers since last year. Mine seem to be from RA though. The weird thing is that I never had fevers until I did a round of antibiotics. I have headaches too. Not everyday, but often enough. I was told by my Lyme doctor that it was caused by Bartonella, but I have Fibromyalgia too and that too can cause them. Very confusing.

KO,
Many of us may not realize the dangers of a low body temperature. According to Dr. J (KS), "A low body temperature creates a happy home for viruses and chronic infections..." And he writes about
it in length on his blog at

Hi CG,
Have you been diagnosed with RA too? How did they diagnose it if you have RA. My RA factor has been increasing over the years, in the high "normal" range now. There isn't much info on Bartonella out there, I wish there was more. Take Care, KO

Hey KO,
Yes, I was just diagnosed with RA a few weeks ago. I still have alot to learn about
RA and the tests involved, so I do not know what test my rheumatologist did. I do know however that my RF was negative. He did another test to determine if I had RA or not. I can definitely find out for you. I've been wanting to get my lab results but haven't been feeling all that well lately.

Look up "Rheumatoid Arthrits and fevers". You will find some great information.

I have battled low-grade fevers for almost a decade. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia about
10 years ago, then Lyme + Babesiosis in January 2008. I get low-grade fevers (~100.5) when I get flares. I've treated Babs twice, and right now I'm on minocycline 100 mg twice daily. The fevers were chronic prior to Lyme treatment.
I don't think Fibromyalgia causes frequent or "chronic high-end low-grade fevers." (Quotes as per my diagnosis by anti-Lyme Infectious Disease Specialist.) He said my fevers were caused by one of three things:
1) Infection
2) Auto-immune disease
3) Cancer
Most doctors aren't particularly interested in low-grade fevers.
I truly hope you get to the root of what's causing your fevers.

PS - Body temperature is normally at its highest in the afternoon. You should find out what your base level body temperature is by measuring it a few times per day, starting when you first wake up. In a hospital setting, a temperature of 99.5 F or 37.5 is considered a low-grade fever.

CG, If you find out how the doc diagnosed your RA please let me know.
Spaztick, My temp is usually under 98 in the afternoon, I can tell when I'm running a fever, even a low grade because I start to feel like I am getting the flu. If I reach "normal temp" I already have a fever. It seems that my migrating joint pain crops up at the same time.
