Hey all. I was wondering if anyone else gets migraines after using the sauna? I have an 2 person infared sauna that I bought last year. I haven't been in it in the past couple months because I was pregnant and then I had a miscarriage and was pretty sick for a while and it's summer and hot so it isn't like I want to hop right in, but decided to start up again yesterday and today I have the worst migraine.

I have had bad reactions when I stay in too long, but I only did 16 minutes and now I don't want to go back in again. I mean why can't our bodies just let us do what we need to do to get well? It's like they just don't want to cooperate. At least it seems mine doesn't lately. Trying to get well so I can try to get pregnant again, but it seems like it might take a little longer than I anticipated.

I have beat lyme before and now that I have some symptoms back I feel like I have amnesia and have forgotten everything about how to beat it again (for good this time).

Would just love to know if anyone else gets these horrible migraines from the sauna and if so, do you wait til it goes away before you go in again or do you just keep on going?

That's because you are probably dehydrated, you have to drink plenty of water before and after a sauna, and it might not be a good idea if it is very hot where you are since you will sweat during the day anyway.

I agree with ineisa that you do need to be sure you are well hydrated.

Another possibility could be that you need to take it a little slower. When I first started detoxing (with detox bathes) I would get migraines & had to build up to taking them with any regularity.

Just a thought
It's been said:LD patients can be as ill as people w/ congest. heart failure & in as much pain as post-op patients.

When I was at the Hansa Center doing the infrared sauna they would always have me drink some Smart Water (electrolyte water) prior to using the sauna and afterwards. They also had me drink 2 ounces of Ningxia before doing the sauna too. I don't really think the Ningxia is necessary, but drinking plenty of water is very important before, during and after the sauna.

I do drink before I go in and when I am in and when I get out. I usually go in every once and a while when I have the free time, but trying to do it more to detox more now. I did it again last night for 18 minutes and boy am I paying for it again today. It is really kicking my butt. My daughter is sick and I have heard that using the suana can ward off getting sick so that was my attempt, but I think I am getting sick anyway and now I am def. having a reaction from the sauna. What was I thinking?

Sounds like you're herxing. That's the only thing that I can think of. Maybe you should just start at ten minutes and see how that works out then work your way up. Just a thought.

I used to do 10 minutes but found it didn't really do anything. I actually think now I am getting my daughter's cold because I feel really lousy today. Maybe it is a bit of a herx too. Why not throw it all in at once.

yup, woke up horribly sick today thanks to my little one. And so much for suana warding off viruses. It didn't work for me and now I have to get over this illness before I can get back to detoxing.

I was wondering the same thing. I tried a coffee enema afterwards and that didn't help ny headache one bit. So, I think enough water is one thing. Plus, Sherry Rogers does say Magnesium is extremely important.

It's so hard to feel good!

I get post sauna frontal headaches. I think it is from sinusitis. My theory is that the infrared liquifies some phlegm in the sinuses and it settles back down and resolidifes over the drainage areas. Most of the time , I am fairly symptomatic, but sinusitis has been noted on some testing.
