I took a couple of days off of work for vacation last week - I thought I'd sleep in and just take it easy. I awoke Thursday night freezing. My hands were shaking so bad I couldn't hold a glass of water. I couldn't get warm no mater what I did. The shaking lasted for hours. I stayed in bed for four days - I could barely walk to the kitchen and was afraid to drive. Does anyone else experience this kind of "shaking?"  I'm on Ketek and Cefdinir. It's the shaking that's got me worried. Anyone have any ideas?

Are you shaking because you're cold?

I used to get extreme chills. I'm not sure whether it was from the Lyme or the babesia. The real fun came when I would alternate between chills and hot flashes. I'd be shivering one minute and pouring sweat the next.

I have not had this happen to me...What I have experienced is internal vibrations. A lot of twitching and spasms. I have also experienced pouring sweat and afterwards I feel like I'm freezing.

However, with Lyme nothing surprises me. Just when you think you have felt it all a new symptom appears and makes you scratch your head. I went through a spell where the inside of my nose would spasm. It was driving me crazy...I went to see a EENT and he said everything looked normal inside, but he did indicate that where I was spasming was muscle...go figure the lyme even attacked my nose muscles.

I don't think the shaking was because I was cold. I think it was more of a neurological type of thing if that makes any sense. The hot/cold flashes have been driving me nuts too - it seems those are an ongoing daily occurrence lately. When I was on hormone replacement therapy I used to wonder why I still got hot flashes - now I know it was the Lyme. The inside of my nose itches - my ears itch too. My scalp crawls. It is so yucky. Has anyone noticed a connection between hot flashes/cold flashes after they've eaten? Could there be a connection? It seems like when I was on Mepron the hot/cold flashes pretty much stopped for awhile. I'm lucky I was at home - on the other hand, this is getting old and I just want to be well - I want all of you to be well too:)

The neurological symptoms (shakes, crawlies, etc.) are probably Lyme, but the hot flashes are more likely from babesia. Since you were on Mepron, I would assume that you were diagnosed with babesia. It sounds like you still have it. It took me an extra long time to get rid of my babesia symptoms. I can't even claim that I'm rid of it right now. It at least seems to be dormant for the time being.

Does anyone know if Bartonella causes sweating?

It's a possible symptom of bartonella. It is more commonly associated with babesia, but these infections are good at mimicking each other, which makes them harder to diagnose.
