If you were to go to see your LLMD for the first time, what would you ask him?  I think this is very important.  Some of you have already seen one, so maybe you'd do something differently (what?).

Thanks!

Hi Simela,

I would ask about the treatment strategy. Some doctors pulse the antibiotic dose and others don't like any breaks in treatment. There are many docs out there that will also include alternate treatments if your insurance doesn't cover certain meds. Find out if they take your insurance.
My LLMD employees Nurse Practitioners and I am seen by them during my monthly visits. They are smart, prescribe meds and are very well versed in treating lyme patients with nearly a decade each of experience.

Good Luck with your first visit. Let us know how you make out.

Hi. I would also find out if the doctor or a knowledgeable medical practitioner in the office is available to take phone calls between visits in case you have questions or develop symptoms you want to find out about quickly. Definitely, I'd nail down the financial side of things. And, if you are interested in alternative medicine, find out if that is supported by the physician.

The most important thing to me, though, is how I feel about the doctor and the office once I'd been there. If either is not conducive to creating a partnership with me with regard to my health and treatment, then that is not the right doctor for me. If you have choices in your area, finding a good fit for you isn't always predecated on finding the doctor with the best reputation or the most well-known doctor. It's important to find someone you feel comfortable with and who you trust.

Good luck with your visit.

Simela,

I wonder if you read my post to you from yesterday on the "Hansa Center Visit" thread? It's the last one

Gary:

I have found your post about an hour ago and I have read it and responded.  Thanks so much for doing this, you are so kind, and the doc too, for answering so quickly!  I have figured out how to switch my email on, and it should work now.  Thanks, I will email you if I think of something to ask!  I want to read and take notes for a couple of hours tonight.

Thanks again, from me and the baby :)
