What I thought were lyme symptoms returning a few weeks ago was really an infected root-canaled molar. I'm having it removed tomorrow morning under general anesthesia. Scared.to.death! This is the second failed root canaled tooth and I wonder if the lyme bacteria is responsible. I have read (somewhere) that these dead teeth, as well as mercury fillings, must be removed in order for a lymie to get well.

Trading one pain for another ... I hope it heals quickly.

Yep. I've had two front RC teeth removed. Also jawbone cavitations...have had 8 surgeries on various sites. All mercury removed and there was a filling in almost every tooth. General anesthesia for dentistry is great...you'll do fine. Do not take Vitamin C prior to dental work; it affects any numbing and makes work more painful....although if you're "out" it might not matter. RC teeth aren't the wonderful things people are led to believe...they harbor all kinds of bacteria. Hal Huggins is a great pioneer in this. Wesley Shankland is a well known dentist who does the cavitation surgeries, although there are others throughout the U.S. Both have websites. I have done hundreds of hours of studying the whole dentistry mess. We're being sold an interesting bill of goods. If you think the medical profession is a cover-up...whew....start reading about dentistry from the holistic perspective....

The best of luck Caldonia Sun....this is a step in the right direction....

Thank you, Mamyou and Deejavu, I am ok. Icing my face and trying to find good things to slurp. General anesthesia is definitely the way to go for dental work.

If you have a good blender, you can grind up healthy foods..  You can make green drinks mixed with fruit, etc.   And those drinks are filling!   I used to grind up fresh spinach leaves, certain types of lettuce, and some other greens and add either natural yogurt or filtered water, and a fruit to sweeten it..   Really healthy!

How's the swelling?  I remember my serious days of dental work, ouch!  I guess I am grateful for my upper dentures, LOL!

Wow...Trav...Thank you for that last post. What a revelation. I have noticed my gums receded fast and couldn't figure out why..... Now then....when the lyme bugs gets under control and I watch my diet, and supplements, will the gums regenerate?

Caldonia Sun....When I had my cavitation surgeries, the dentist told me not to ice because it impedes blood flow and can cause the site not to heal. Since it was an RC tooth, almost all of them have jawbone cavitations (holes in the jawbone, also called osteonecrosis) You might want to do some research on these since lyme and anerobic bacteria can settle into these holes. Nearly all traditional dentists don't believe in them so I wouldn't waste my time asking one. Do the research under jawbone cavitations. I'm glad your surgery is over.....

Mamyou, you have hit on something that has my attention lately. I started to explain in greater detail and then I realized that it would make for a very long post!!!! ACK!!
The short answer for me is it is quite possible, depending on how damaged any said area gets.

When I had my bottom teeth pulled (or I should say what was left of them!) back in March, I drank green 'smoothies' & it really helped me to get over the whole thing much faster!! I would highly recommend that those of us that have these tick-borne infections, drink 'green smoothies' every time you have that kind of stress on your body!!

Hey, Trav...describe your version of a green smoothie, please. I used to eat Barley Green with a spoon..no water, but then I got away from it.

I don't think the dental issues ever end, but I do know we (especially chronically ill) must be hypervigilant about what dental products and procedures can hurt us and what we should be able to do. One of the things I have read is that the ADA holds patents on amalgam. If that's the case, and should there be a class action lawsuit, guess who would get sued.... By the way, there was to be an FDA mercury study around 1997 (I was to be in it) and it never got off the ground. I could go on and on but all this information is available to anyone who wants to dig. I would be happy to give you names of books and authors if anyone is interested and can't find enough online.

I preach this because there's a direct relationship between a potential cesspool in the mouth, the immune system, and the lyme battle. And because Caldonia Sun got a molar removed!!!

And a iced green tea latte with matcha tea. Yum!

Was waiting for the hype to die down and maybe get one at a better price. I'm not cheap...I'm poor!!!!! Too many medical bills x 40 years!!!! I have a garden full of kale and tomatoes.....the added ginger sounds interesting.

Here's my version of a green smoothie:
1 banana
1 cup frozen berries (blueberries, blackberries, raspberries)
as much dark greens as you can get into your blender (spinach, kale, romaine, etc.)
and 1/2 a good sized cucumber
and a handful of baby carrots

The banana of course has great flavor & will kind of 'mask' some of the other flavors.
The berries are a great source of antioxidants, plus they are known to help stabilize moods.
Here's the why of the cucumbers & carrots - thanks to The Lifestyle Lounge -

I use a juicer. Dark leafy greens and ginger are really the best for minerals and immune system boosting. I don't do too much fruit because of the high sugar content, but it is yummy.

Traveler, your recipe sounds good, but I'm really wondering about the carb and sugar count given that it contains a banana and 1 cup of berries. I'm drawing on past experience with low carb diets, but I'm pretty sure bananas were out of the question both because of carb count and sugar count, and when I dare to eat berries, I pick the least ripe ones I can find and only eat, at most, 1/3 cup. I guess I will hunt up my carb counter and see what's up. I'm totally with you on the cucumbers; I eat them every day. They are alkalizing.

Mamyou- I almost bought Montel's machine until I (luckily) ran a search on it and saw how horribly poor it is rated (the machine and customer service).

I have this juicer http://www.brevilleusa.com/juicing/die-cast-juice-fountain-elite.html it's nice for a juicer but after seeing all that a machine like Montel's does, I want one like that too. This is the closest to that I have found http://www.williams-sonoma.com/products/vitamix-blender-professional-500/?pkey=cblenders-juicers%7Celtbjcble but pricey.

Hi Rose,
I don't follow any specific diet, so I don't doubt that those who are would find it hard to do the things I have done. I was just sharing.
