I had a visit to my LLMD In Training today.  He and I are doing well because I have been reading and I have been saved by this forum!!  But I did come away with a few questions...  I have been on Cipro and Amoxicillin now for two months(??? I'm losing track of time) and he said "You're not sick enough, I think we should change the antibiotic after your next five day round".  So he's changing me to Doxy and Amoxicillin.  What kind of reaction should I expect with Doxy?  I know it's possible the bugs are getting resistant to the Cipro but I really dread the thought of big herxing again.

We also talked about biofilms and I asked him if they were proteins and he said yes.  I think it was Willowrose(???) that said she takes enzymes.  If biofilms are proteins, then that makes sense.  What I don't understand is that if the protease enzymes will dissolve biofilms,  why pay the extra money for the nattokinase???

I was reading that Bicillin LA as an IM is almost as good as other drugs in an IV.  Has anybody had any experience with this?

Last but not least, for those of you who have seen the DVD "Under Our Skin",  did you know the doctor that was basically forced to leave NC (the one that Mandy in the movie used) is now practicing about four blocks from the White House?????  Somehow I thought that was humorous.

Hi, I have had great success using bicillian shots my husband use to give them to me. a nurse at the DR's office showed him how. my insurance won't pay for them anymore. so we can't use them.

go for it if your insurance pays for it. :) and yes I have good results on this and IV rocphin. except anything thats seems to help even getting me to 40% feeling better. 100% being healthy again . I say try it. anything that may help my insurance company takes away.:(

prayers to u let me know how which u ok good luck.

good luck mainegirl/marlene

Thanks mainegirl. Right this minute I have no insurance but hope to have in about two months. No idea what it's going to cover but surely it'll be nice enough to give me a month of something that's effective. I forget what the dr. told me the bicillin would cost if I have to pay out of pocket. Not as much as the I.V. stuff I'm sure.

I'm getting absolutely disgusted hearing about all the insurance companies making us lymies suffer....I don't think it's going to get any better....We just have to get smarter!!

Thank you, Trav. I'm trying to figure out a way to afford a real lyme MD to at least get me over some hurdles. I don't want to give up my LLMD-in-training because I think he has great, great potential.... In the meantime, I'm learning all I can. As soon as insurance kicks in, I need some extensive dental work so will that take precedence over the medical????...I don't know yet!!! This will bother me greatly when I'm herxing on the doxy next week, but since today isn't a horrible day, I'm dealing with it. I'm sure all can relate....
