For those of you who have read my 'HELP !!!' post about my newly developed and severe stiff neck:
I have decided (after some research on the kind of neck pain I was having, which did not feel muscular) that it's really my Lymph glands that are swollen and hurting, not my neck muscles.
There are quite a few Lymph glands in various locations in the neck and base of skull. Some are deep and can't be felt with your fingers.
Anyway--- and no thanks to my doctor offering this diaganosis---my Lymph glands must be raging in their attempt to fight bacteria.
Lymph glands can also fight (if that's the right word) a virus too. But I DO think (as other members have pointed out) that my neck pain is Lyme related.....ergo: it's the Lyme bacteria that has gotten my glands all worked up.
Hope this a good thing! ---meaning that my body is finally recognizing the bacteria and is trying to fight it ????
This makes me wonder, that if I got another Lyme blood test NOW.... it would finally show a positive ???
Heating pads and Ibuprophin have helped....and the pain is now mostly on the right side of my neck instead of both sides. It is getting better.
However, I have this pouchy thing going on under my chin-- like fluid of some kind is collecting-- and neck is slightly swolllen on right side creating some wrinkles. I look like an old lady with turkey waddle! Yikes!
Any thoughts on Lymph glands ??? Am I self-diagnosing in the right direction?
