Hi I havnt been on in a while but I think I am having a Lyme Flare up or its just a virus. Has anyone ever had diarrhea for a week straight with cramping and nausea. I been having headaches since I am probaly a bit dehydrated. I cant eat with out my belly gurgling and wanting to go to the bathroom. about 4 days b4 this I had a Hyperglaceima (spelled wrong)  attack at work that came out of no were. about 4 days before that I found a bug bite on my left shoulder blade that was a small hard bump.

I kept an eye on this and it went down and as soon as it went down I had the diarrhea. I went to my MD and he said its probaly a virus and he was no help at all.

But now My knees feel a bit week and my lower back is stiff and sore and I feel like my legs are like lead today going up stairs. I hope its just a stomach virus and not my Lyme creeping back.

Should i go to my LLD? Does this sound like a flare up at all?

Thank you in advance! yeah

Just my opinion, but with varying symptoms sounds like a flare up. I thought I recall from somewhere symptoms do flare up after a bite. Is that tru?
Symptomatic with Lyme July 2006. Treated with Lyme Aug- Feb 2006 on Doxycycline and supplements. Currently appear to be symptom free.

Hey Jennie,

A virus can make any Lyme symptoms you have much worse.

My advice -- and I am not a medical professional -- try to get your electrolytes balanced again. Gatorade, pedialyte, anything to get your magnesium, potassium, sodium, sugar and water balanced. Eat fruit. Drink broth.

And then try to stimulate your immune system. You must have a favorite way.

And detox... Most of the symptoms you are experiencing are to do with too many toxins in the body.

Relax -- you can fix this!

I think if you were actually feeling better and not coming on the site that you should see a LLMD and detox. I hope you feel well again soon

OMG! I could have written that myself. I have all the same symptoms. I had one different one though a week or two ago, i had a bout of lightheadedness that sent me to the bathroom to throw up. I then had chills and weakness and just breathed through it until it passed. I looked pale too. I was nauseas for a few hours afterwards. Then a week later I woke up with diarhea and nausea. I was going to work and decided to go back home since i didnt sleep well and felt kind of weak. I slept for 3 more hours and felt better. I went back to work for two more days but at the end of the second day I just felt exhausted. I was up again with chills, stomach ache and diarhea again. I stayed home the next few days. Oh I also had the lower back pain just before all this too.

Here a little background, I was treated for lyme in 2009 with Doxy antibiotics for a month that didnt seem to work. Then when I was to the point of collapse in May of last year I sought the help of a Homoepathic doctor who got my health back. I was feeling great and then got bit again on Easter of this year. I immediately followed her protocol for the new tick bite and felt great for the past two months unti now.  First the tick bite started to itch and get bigger. Now its kind of raw and oozing and itchy. I am using Lemon Eucalyptus oil on it as per the doctors instructions. The nausea has now past. The diarhea is gone and now just have the tiredeness and a little weak feeling. She also has me on supplements. I was hoping it was just a virus but because of the tick bite becoming active again. I believe mine is a flare up.

I have had the original tick bite from 2 years ago still swells and itches sometimes. I told my doc about that too and she advised to put the oil on it and it usually goes away within minutes to a few hours. I am still being treated for the lyme but was feeling so much better I was almost ready to say its all gone. Then this happened. Maybe its the lymes last hoorah But I got rid of it before so I can do it again.

What is your background? Did you have lyme before? And if so, how were you treated?

Good luck. I hope you are feeling better soon. I noticed even lyme flare ups dont last too long. So hang in there.

Hey jennie,

Just wanted to see how you were feeling. We had the same symptoms. Now I just have the weakness and have to sleep 10-12 hours a day. I tried to go back to work and wound up leaving half the day due to weakness. Thought I may be pushing myself too hard. Wound up with a slight migraine last night too. I know you mentioned headaches too.

I've been hearing about a few people with a stomach virus. I'm hopin thats all we have and will be well again real soon. As long as its not Lyme again I'm happy. Because I am so Done with it!

Let us know where your at.

Hello, my name is Tricia and I am new to this website. I am searching for answers for my son who is 9 years old. about a year and a half ago my son was complaining of bad pain in his foot. He was a hockey player and still playing so we didn't think terribly much about it. Finally he saw an ortho who ran an MRI and was floored at the stress fractures in his feet and ankles. He was casted on and off for 5 months (and the other foot as well during this process) with 8 MRI's and nothing was healing. They put him in boots and a wheel chair for a few months because the casts weren't working. During this process he got very sick and tested positive for lyme. Nobody thought the stress fractures were related but there was no known reason either. He was treated by doxi for 21 days and only felt well for a few weeks and then bam!! He would throw and complain of severe headaches. He was in and out of Children s and they did nothing but treat the symptoms. They totally thought this was in his head!! I finally started videoing him heaving over the toilet and moaning and groaning. My poor son missed 30 days of school as well as me work (I work in a school and had to apply for the family leave act by Oct. of last year) I fought hard for him to be seen at Mass General Infectious disease and he was finally put on another month of the doxi. At this time there were huge improvements and even the feet healed. He is back playing hockey and going to school this year however he seems to feel sick still. He got hand, foot and mouth the second day of school, He was diagnosed with asthma a few weeks back and here and there he gets the headaches and vomits. Last night he got up during the night and vomited. I thought he had the stomach bug . He was a bit tired today but this afternoon, he felt warm and complained of headaches. He slept for a few hours, got up and walked down the stairs to turn around and go right back to bed complaining his whole body hurt! How do I know if this is lyme related or just a virus. I feel every time I think he is well, something happens and I am left wondering if it is related or am I being neurotic. None of his doctors (except for his GI wanted to see him back, and his pediatrician never believed he had the chronic lyme to begin with ) I don't know where to go from here!! Any advice would be appreciated!!
Tricia

Hi Tricia - welcome to our community!

I'm so sorry your son has lyme disease - but I'm glad that you found us here.
Good for you not accepting those symptoms...

So he had 21 days of doxi plus one more month...and he had the infection possibly for more than 5 months?
(If I understood correctly)

He needs more treatment. A 5+ month infection almost always needs more than a couple months of antibiotics.

You will want to find a LLMD - that is a Dr. who is knowledgeable in the diagnosis, treatment of lyme disease and confections.

We can help you find one: Start a new thread titled: "looking for Pediatric LLMD in/near_____" and fill in the blank with the nearest larger city.

Then enable your email address so members can privately contact you..we don't post the names of the LLMD's on here - for privacy reasons.

I also encourage you to take a look through the thread at the top of the page titled: "New to Lyme?..Start Here!" It's packed full of useful information...symptom lists, info on probiotics, detoxing, and more.

In addition to members sending you recommendations, you can also contact ILADS Physician Referral:

Hi Tricia,
Welcome to our community. I'm so glad you found us.

As Girlie said, your son has not had enough treatment. Not only is 2 months of treatments not enough for the amount of time he was infected, but those months were not consecutive (separated by at least a few weeks, if I'm understanding correctly), but it's quite possible the dosing was wrong since the doctors he's seen so far don't understand the treatments that are necessary.

It's so common for Lyme patients to be told they are imagining their symptoms. I'm so sorry you and your son had to endure that insult.

Please do take the time to read through our "New to Lyme?" thread as Girlie suggested, as it's packed with helpful information.

Also, here are some more places you can use to help you find a LLMD for your son so he can get the treatments he needs:

For information on finding an ILADS (International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society) trained Lyme Literate Medical Doctor(LLMD) in your area, you will need to enable your email option in your profile in order to receive any recommendations, as we don't allow doctor's names and contact info to be posted on the forum for several reasons. You can enable your email option in your profile, under 'edit profile'. Be sure to click the submit button to actually save your preference.

You can send me an email by clicking on my screen name or the small blue envelope under my screen name. I may have contact information for some LLMD's in your area as well. Please include your state (or province) and area that you would like to find a LLMD in and I will be happy to share the names I have.

You can email the Tick-Borne Disease Alliance at medicalinfo@tbdalliance.org for LLMD referrals.

You can go to The Lyme Disease Association and search for LLMD's 3 times in a month. You have to register first. Here is the link:
www.lymediseaseassociation.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=277&Itemid=74

ILADS has their own referral system as well:
ilads.org/ilads_media/physician-referral/

And www.LymeDoc.org

You will want to find a well trained doctor, not one that has self proclaimed themselves as a LLMD or an ID Doc (Infectious Disease Doctor), as ID docs believe Lyme is hard to catch and easy to treat, and don't believe in the reality of chronic Lyme. Go to the ILADS site to read the new (2014) Treatment guidelines to get you started on your healing journey:

Herb only treatment for Lyme & Bart ended 12/11 - no active symptoms for 2 yrs -Herb only treatment for Babesia ended 12/12

I have 4 children who were treated for Lyme's and my 9 yo daughter by far had the worst of it and is still in treatment so I understand the frustrations in dealing with it. I agree find a MD who is knowledgeable about Lyme's and go from there. As someone in the healthcare field myself I know MD's don't miss things on purpose however most don't give it serious consideration. Thinking it is hard to get and easy to cure. But welcome you are in the right place. And don't be shy about asking questions.
