Hey all!!

I am having some of the worst Lyme rage EVER! I am driving myself insane, and my family:(
Could any of you tell me what you do, what you take to help when the Lyme flares up and causes such rage?!
I can't keep taking vicodin for anger issues. It's not 'surpressed' anger issues, because I know how to properly deal with those when they sneak up. This just comes out of nowhere and it's instant! I hate it!

Thanks again!

I just found Avea Mood by Nutramedix and supposedly it's supposed to help level out moods. Anyone use this with success??

It may not be very helpful, but I can tell you what I did when I went through that awful, instantaneous burst of real rage - I quite literally went outside, grabbed a large branch from a tree and proceeded to beat the tree as hard as I could! If I could feel that the rage was still there, I would find another branch and repeat. Splitting firewood was also a highlight of my life when that rage took hold!

So I would say find something very[/] physical to release that rage - it's much better than it coming out against those we love.

Thanks Traveler! Pouring down rain... can't really go outside. Three year old daughter who's fast asleep in her room. It's a tough thing to deal with. I've dealt with rage with my quitting drinking 6 years ago.... this brain herxing is bringing the rage to a whole new level! Maybe I need to increase my Neuro Anti-Toxin even more than what my Dr has me increase already to! Yikes!!

Isn't it the worst!!! My hubby is so frustrated with everything this disease puts us through! I am working on doing some meditation while my daughter naps for a bit here.
My lyme dr is out of town until next week, otherwise I would be down there now asking for something desperately! It's been happening more and more as my treatement progresses! I am hoping these episodes level out as soon as I begin the RIFE and other energy treatments next week!

As soon as I find what works, I'll post!

Hang in there Ladies! I know how tough it can be! Meditation is a good thing! For me though, by the time I realized what was happening, I had to just get out and away from everyone -even myself if I could have!

Hopehere,
Read the instructions on the bottle and determine if you can up your dose just a bit. With you in the rain, I know it's harder to deal with. BTW- it's raining here too! =) I would say we must be close together -except this storm stretches out across quite a few states!

Also, have you checked out that site for spouses of Lyme patients yet? It would probably be helpful for your hubby to read through as well! Here's a link: lymespouse.org/

Carrie, if you are experiencing the Lyme rage as well, please be very careful around others. It seemed to me that the most unusual things could set me off when I was living with Lyme rage.

Although I call it Lyme rage -since that's the best known term for this - Bartonella infections can cause rage as well.

Yea Ive had a bit of rage.. I was always short tempered but I was turning into Mr Hyde.. The worst was recent, my GP put me on steroids(mistake) and a antibiotic that was contraindicated(huge mistake). I went after two guys while I was driving that day. Stopped taking both meds that night and started getting better fast.. So just my two cents but you might want to look at your meds.. Taking a mood altering drug like vicodin might be making things worse not better.

Broken, not to trivialize this, but are you sure it's not serious anxiety then? I know when I was 'pushed' or hurried is when I would -quite literally- freak out. I got angry that I was being pushed in such a manner. I couldn't understand it, but once I started on anti-anxiety medication it all calmed down tremendously.

I know that I can still have issues when things start moving too fast.

I forgot to add that I am not raging (at the moment)! I just meant that I get that feeling of rage too and I've even posted on here about it before.... I changed my hormone delivery method and so far, so good.....feeling better!

Sometimes screaming into a pillow can be surprisingly helpful. Also ativan helps curb the rage a little bit. I've had really awful rage lately...I was trying to paint and I got so frustrated that it wasn't coming out right that I literally stabbed and tore apart the whole canvas! I tried to cry hoping I coudl get it out that way but there's something wrong with me I literally cannot cry. It comes out of nowhere and it's so annoying! I'm sorry you're dealing with this...

Carrie-
I haven't actually had a RIFE treatment yet. My doctor is out of town until next week, she didn't want me to start any kind of energy treatment without her supervising for the first couple of weeks.

Thank you all! Feels so good to know I really am not alone with my symptoms... Especially this rage! I will be going off the Vicodin, since my doctor has a compound pharmacy making up a couple different oral pain relivers that won't be tough on my liver like the Vicodin is. I'll contact my doctor and have him refill my adivan. I have bi-polar (surprise, surprise) and I haven't taken my medication for the past few months as a result of all my other meds I've been on. I don't know..... I'm still so confused!

Enjoy your night everyone!

That pure rage is really scary! I always felt so uncontrollable during those times - oh how I hated that!

Carrie,
I am so glad to hear that changing your hormones has helped!! I do hope that you never have to experience that again!! I'm really hoping that I've had enough healing at this point to never have to go through that yet again either!

LOL Broken!!!
I know how you feel!!! I know that it may seem a ways off yet, but I promise, once you are on the right treatment for you, things get easier to get through. Have you talked with your doc about something for your anxiety? It would make sense that if it's your anxiety that sets off the rage, then getting the anxiety under control will keep the rage episodes away.

Hope,
You are almost never alone in symptoms here!! LOL!! smhair That's the beauty of being involved in an active forum! We have such great members that will share their experiences - like this thread - to help other feel not quite so alone!!!

I've said it before and I'll say it again - Our members rock!!!! smilewinkgrin

To all:
We are always here! We can all work through these things, no matter how big they feel, as long as we have each other!!!

okay - all together now....awwwwwww...... *snicker*

Lol people can be a problem can't they? Just kiddin ( kinda.)

I am thinking about Traveler's response. (I searched rage because the last 4 days rage is just sittin on my right shoulder wanting to become a reality.)

I am considering this: things that have a tendency to annoy me when I am asymptomatic are multiplied by ? 400 volts when sick making kindness very very hard to find. I do not always or even usually have rage when I am sick but I recognize its potential to do harm as I practiced it in the earlier years and HATED myself afterwards. For the last four days or so rage is just riding my right shoulder waiting to pounce.

If I could cry it'd be very helpful
But I can't.

I will get the cat litter cleaned (cat supervises me to make sure I get it all.) Then make a sandwich for hubby's lunch. Then come back to my chair and get my Joyce Myer books out. I need some supernatural help.

I also plan on eating something before bed I believe potatoe soup with ketchup would be an improvement for me. I love love to eat.

My lyme rage was horrific also.  I had no idea what it was and just thought I was mad at the world for not feeling good for so long.  I lost many friends and almost family members.  Thank goodness they were related or they would have left me too.  LOL.  It disappeared for me with treatment but also I think antidepressants helped me.  I also learned deep breathing and visualization.  Believe it or not I would imagine people or items flying away tied to balloons just to get thoughts out of my head.

Its amazing what we will do to feel better.

Springsjean!

Love your balloon visualization.

When I was struggling with the rage I used the image of dumping the things (and people) I didn't need off the back of a very large cruise ship. Very satisfying to see them bobbing off in the wake, leaving me to enjoy my umbrella drink!!

Even now that I am much better, I can still recognize the situations that used to send me over the edge. It mostly is due to feeling overwhelmed and stressed. So I take a good hard look at what is stressing me and either remove it (take the pressure off by canceling that trip or whatever) or get some help.

And I pamper myself. Escape into a movie, take another bath, have a treat.

Of course with the holidays right here, there is a lot of built in stress. I seriously considered canceling Christmas for a moment there, but couldn't get my four year old Granddaughter on board!!

Grace,

What a wonderful idea. The thing is if one has to deal with someone who pulls ones string on a regular basis (she was like calling me 8 times a day) it wont work.

I wrote her (she knows im sick) and told her I had to take time without talking to people. ( I was going to lose it if I hadn't. ) She has written back and seems cool about it. I think I have learned somthing know your triggers. I don't regret taking time away from listening to other peoples problems I beleive it is the only chance I have of getting myself balanced.

And to be fair there are a LOT of problems out there. Wow. I need space, to try to sort my own problems.. I have not encountered any criticism of my self-appointed sabbatical and I am truly thankful God gave me the idea.

I can correspond writing but spoken words and noises and shouting over and over really puts my picture window and my dishes in severe danger. I was well for awhile and then insidiosly slipped back and I am of course disappointed.

I love your advice look at what is the strssor and either get rid of it or get some help. Incredible advice thank you. Unfortunately most problems and people and situations can't just be tossed away, I wish they could. Lol I sound so mean don't I? I don't want to be mean

Doctors should be studying this rage. There is a country that is taking these illnsses seriously and not trying to say they do not exist. It might be Canada, might not, can't remember.
