WHen I have in 4th grade (which was 20 +plus years ago) I went to a youth camp with my Chruch group. I remember getting in the bus to go home, for some reason or the other someone behide me with looking at my head and said "You have a tick in you head".. Yes, it was true, right on the top of my head my a tick and under my skin. I remember going home and telling Mommy about it and I am really not sure what she did, I can not remember.. Then I remember a little while after that I broke out with red rashes all over my body, My mom took me to the doctor and he told us it was ringworms. I thought that was weird. Thur out the last 10 years my health has become some what hard. On the side of my head where the tick was at my ear is ALWAYS buzzing, I have seizures, The side of my head where the tick was at is so different from the other side of my head, I hope that makes sence, My memory is awful, I work in the corp world and I find it hard sometimes finding the right words to say, I am so tried all the time, I back hurts all the time, On the side where the tick was my shoulder hurts, I can go on and on. Anyways, I have a dr appointment next month to discuss this all with him. I just hate it because I feel that sometimes finding a good one to lesson and understand how you feel is so hard. I am a single Mom and stress does so much to my body as well.

Hi Marymjg!
Welcome to our forum!! I'm so sorry to hear of what you have been through, and we don't even know your full story yet! I'm glad you found us though! We have a really great community here!

If you haven't yet, it would be very helpful for you to read through our "New to Lyme? Start here!" thread that sits at the top of the forum, as it's packed full of important information, symptom lists (as Lyme rarely travels alone!), informative links and pdf's, as well as a list of questions that you can ask any doc that you seek treatment from!

From the way you tell about your experience with that tick, chances are you didn't have ringworm, but those were bulls eye rashes. You can look up on the internet what bulls eye rashes look like, as there are many variations -all indicative of Lyme.

The few symptoms that you list could be from a Lyme infection.

Thank you for the warm welcome. I noticed some people note having Jaundice too. Wow, My eyes have always been yellow. My son was born with Jaundice as well, could I have carried Lyme to them as well? I am very concern with this and if this goes on left untreated any longer, do you know what kinds of reaction my body will take? Once again, getting a doctor to lesson to my concerns and to know he/she is treating me correctly is a big concern to.

Have you seen a doctor yet about these infections? If so, what kind of doctor are you seeing? Have you started any treatment yet?

Yes, yellowing of the eyes (jaundice) is a warning signal that the liver is struggling. You need to start detoxing, which is covered in our "New to Lyme?" thread - 2nd post about half way down. It's important to do all the things suggested with the exception of the foot or full detox soaks - you don't have to do both of those, it depends on what you can handle. I would suggest that you start off very slowly with detoxing though. It sounds as if you may be quite full of toxins and unable to detox properly.

To start off with detoxing, I would suggest that you dry skin brush daily, drink at least 64 ounces of pure water (you can add in fresh lemon if you aren't having any muscle spasms/twitches/cramps. Otherwise it'll just make these things worse!), and eat just as healthy as you can afford to, using organics whenever possible.

As for the detox soaks, I would suggest that you use the Epsom Salt/Peroxide foot soak. Be sure that you start off very slowly though! Even detoxing can bring on a herx (Jarrisch-Hersheimer reaction). That's a healing crisis and they are miserable! They include a worsening of current symptoms and can bring on new symptoms as well. The reason for this is because a herx is a healing crisis. There are so many toxins floating around in your blood stream and the body can't process them fast enough to keep from having serious problems if it goes on for long. My doc gets really mad if I allow a herx to go more than 4 days.

There is enough evidence that Lyme (at least) can be passed from mother to child that you will want to watch your son for symptoms - again, we have a great set of symptom lists in our "New to Lyme?" thread.

Although with that being said, there are a lot of different reason as to why a child would be born with Jaundice. My daughter was, but then again I carried her for 10 months and she had 3 bowel movements inside the placenta before she was finally born.

Something else you will find in our "New to Lyme?" thread is a list of questions to help you find a doctor that is capable of giving you the kind of treatment that you will need in order to put this disease into remission!

If you are not seeing a doctor for your infections yet, here are a few ways to locate one:
For information on finding a Lyme Literate Medical Doctor(LLMD) in your area, you can start a new thread titled something like:"Looking for LLMD in the _______ area." Although you will need to enable your email option in your profile in order to receive any recommendations, as we don't allow doctor's names and contact info to be posted on the forum for several reasons. You can enable your email option in your profile, under 'edit profile'. Be sure to click the submit button to actually save your preference.

You can also email our long time member, Dan's Mother at:phassan@optonline.net

You can also email Stephanie at: stephanie@turnthecorner.org You can also go to: www.turnthecorner.org/ if you want to learn a little bit more about Lyme Disease.

You can also go to The Lyme Disease Association and search for LLMD's 3 times in a month. You have to register first. Here is the link:www.lymediseaseassociation.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=277&Itemid=74

You will want to find an ILADS (International Lyme And Associated Diseases Society) doctor. The ILADS site is another great place to read to get you started on your Lyme journey. www.ilads.org/lyme_disease/treatment_guidelines_clearing_ilads.html

Let us know how else we might be able to help you!

Traveler, you said your Dr. gets mad if you let a herx go
on for more than 4 days. What do you do to stop them?

Well, I just finished going through one, soooooo. I had to lower my dose of med (Lyme herbs for me) that I had just started for a few days and detoxed with all of these things each and every day:

I use the Epsom salt/peroxide foot soaks twice a day. Foot soaks are more gentle on the body as you aren't exposing as much skin to the effects of the Epsom salts and peroxide, and you aren't sinking your entire body down into that nicely warmed water - which raises your body temp, which kills off more bacteria!!

I ate a lot of raw carrots and other good 'greens' and things that I don't react to. I stayed away from yeast, white flour, potatoes, breads, meats, sugar of all types- even the natural sugars except Stevia.

I drank at least 96 (3 quarts) ounce of pure water - a couple of days I drank a full gallon. This helps the liver and kidneys to process more toxins more quickly.

I also made sure to do the dry skin brushing, although I try to do that daily anyway. The skin actually does a lot for detoxing, as it can expel toxins out of us, but only if it's not covered up with a bunch of dead skin. This also helps get the blood flowing better, which will decrease the transit time of the toxins to the organs that can get rid of them!

I rested as much as I could, allowing my body to use it's energy to heal rather than to keep me going. LOL! I loved this part!!!

If I hadn't gotten over the herx, I would have had to stop the new med (herbs) and allowed my body to deal with all those extra toxins that were just floating around.

Remember, herxing is due to an overload of toxins that your body just can't process well enough or fast enough to keep them from causing these symptoms. This is most often brought on by starting a new treatment, supplement, or other medicine, although I have created horrid herxes by starting to detox too! So any abrupt changes in your body can cause issues, especially if your body isn't able to detox well anyway.

Remember, we are all unique individuals, what works for me may not work for you without modifications. So try something like this and then think about what your body likes/dislikes. Do you react to potatoes (bloating, gas, constipation/diarrhea)? then avoid them and don't stress out your body when in a herx.

I can't think of anything else at the moment. Please do let me know if I wasn't able to answer your question well enough!
