Background: All four of us have been working our way up on our version of the Buhner's recommended core protocol. After several months, we FINALLY added in the Woodland Essence C.S.A. to target Babesia (although realizing that there is some cross over with the herbs for bartonella too).
FYI: Woodland Essence C.S.A. contains three herbs: Cryptolepis, Sida Acuta and Alchornea

Previously, we tried this combo back in August, and it was an epic fail (Kid#2 and I reacted very negatively from it and we stopped it -- decided to focus on core protocol first).

We are now up to 5drops 2x/day. I was bracing myself for the worst (like last August), and so far, it's been ok. Kid#2 is definitely (unusually) hyper after starting that, but we'll see how that progresses. I realize we can regress as we go higher, so we will see!

I absolutely don't want to herx from it. But yet when we do react to a herb, it's good to know that it's doing something!!! I'm SO CONFLICTED! But I'm guessing you can understand that feeling!! With Kid#1 (back in the day), he rarely reacted to anything so it's really difficult to know what was helping him or not. With Kid#2, he's much more reactive this past year, so it helps with "clues" for treatment! Hope that makes sense!

Anyways, I'll continue going slow - especially since it's a combo one and I strongly am suspicious that two, maybe three, of my kids have babesia (and maybe bartonella).

What was your experience with C.S.A.? When did you herx from it (if you did)? Did you feel it helped your problems? And if so, when did you start to notice a difference?

Wish us luck!! smile
Kid#1: Extremely sick for several years, very difficult to treat, but much better lately!
Kid#2: Very sick now despite being treated for years, very bad year
Kid#3: Doing great, minor relapse, but great again (ironically had least and shortest treatment)!
Me: Adv Labs positive 2016 (suspected I passed to my kids) - not as sick as others, mostly battling fatigue, kidney, heart, and yeast issues

When I took it, I was taking it with antibiotics...and I don't think I noticed anything...but not sure...

sorry - not much help!

Do you know that the updated Babesia treatment is Crypto, Sida, and Bidens Pilosa?

I don't have the book, but it's been posted on here before.

Having said that...many have used the CSA prior to his revision (I believe rowingmom and her daughter used it)

Buhner's basic protocol for mild to moderate babesia:

Cryptolepis, bidens pilosa, artemisinin, sida acuta, salvia miltiorrhiza, milk thistle, l-arginine, ashwagandha, riboflavin, tincture combination of panax ginseng, licorice, schisandra chinenis.

For added symptoms he goes on into more detail.

Yes, I know the protocol changed. But I'm comfortable starting off with CSA for now - unless somebody can tell me that he says Alchornea is negative for a reason that I haven't heard?

Thanks, Peteza and Girlie! smile

Daisies the only negative thing I have read is that EXCESSIVE amounts can cause depression.

I doubt that you are doing that.

I always say, "go with your gut instincts." They were definitely give to us for a reason.

gosh, then they aren't really failures.... just lessons.

I only just started Sida acuta as part of the Bartonella protocol, and have been herxing some on it - so I completely understand how you are torn between the herxing and not herxing! I'm the same way!!

I haven't even attempted Babs treatment again yet, so I can't comment on that, but I do want to wish you and your kids luck with this!! The best of luck!!!

Thanks!
Kid#2 (my sickest kid) is struggling today (he tanked). But he has good and bad days typically - so I can't say for sure it's from the herbs. He definitely was more hyper most of last week. We'll see how this progresses!

All such puzzles to figure out!!!

Kid#2: Very sick now despite being treated for years, very bad year

Thanks, Peteza, for that information. We haven't even exceeded any of our dosages for any herbs at this point. I'm not comfortable going beyond our current max dosages until I consult with a herbalist. So, you are right - we are not using excessive amounts! smile

Drats! I have some pretty yucky anxiety today. I'm pretty sure it's related to the CSA.

Ugh - get out of my head!!!
