Hi
I have have had various health issues for approx 5-6 years mainly extreme fatigue. I have seen many doctors to no avail, recently I have had two doctors recommend lyme treatment based on blood test results. Is it possibly to have lyme with all of the mental symptoms but no physical symptoms(joint pain)? Is it possible I had minor physical symptoms closer to the time of infection that I have just forgotten about or they where mistaken for something else and it has since progressed into mental only?

Thanks

Welcome here Joe.

I have come to believe that anything is possible with lyme. There is no set course that lyme takes. All symptoms are different for everyone. Even more strange, is that there is no set course of treatment that is guaranteed to cure it.

Lyme is very mysterious.

Welcome Joe. It sounds very plausible to me that these bacteria will congregate in one place and over run the local area that they prefer before spreading out to cover more real estate in the body as the populations increase.

It also seems likely that I have had Lyme for many more years than I initially thought and that my back muscle woes were due to this and contained to mostly this area.

Only when my immune system was weakened by mold did it gain the ability to spread and cause other imbalances.

The mental can impair the ability to interpret anything else. I often find my brain can only interpret the area where the most pain occurs. When I tore my MCL, I didn't feel much back pain but am certain it was still there. As the MCL healed the back pain returned on cue.

Welcome, joeNova !

I actually know someone who only had the Psychiatric symptoms. She didn't have lyme long before treatment - something like 7 months.

I think it's a matter of the chicken/egg. Basically, the psyche needed a prompt to get in touch with major blockages that hindered healing PRIOR to being bitten and so unconsciously INVITED the bloody tick to be the impetus for healing. This is to say that all that is being experienced now in full-fledged CLD is nothing else but a MAGNIFICATION of what resided in the sub-conscious prior to being bitten. The unresolved stuff. It had to be the tick to trigger the all-out SOS to bring it all to the surface. Sub-conscious to consciousness via a bloody tick. All the traumas are now front and center in hyper mode so that they HAVE TO BE ADDRESSED and there can be no longer any hiding or sweeping anything under the proverbial rug.

Hi joe Nova,
Yes, I do think it's possible that Lyme can affect you mentally and not physically, although fatigue is physical. My sister was bitten by a tick in Mexico and I "made" her get tested for Lyme - it came back positive (the Elisa test). She refused to take abx, but she swore by the antibacterial benefits of colloidal silver that she was already taking for her Hep C. This was about 3 years ago and to this day she hasn't suffered any Lyme like symptoms with the exception of brain fog (and stubbornness -lol!).

Best of luck to you.
**
Tick bites twice, in March and Aug 2013. Self-diagnosed a year later in Sep 2014. W. Blot positive on 1 band 41KD (IGG), Mycoplasma Pneumoniae (IGG, IGM) 1.83. MTHFR, DNA - pos. for 2 copies of the A1298c mutation. Most other results normal in 2014. Feb 2016 Confirmed Hashimoto's Thyroiditis without symptoms. Now no meds, taking DesBio homeopathic drops for EBV and Borrelia and suppliments

And as Keylyme pointed out - the fatigue is a symptom.

joints, eye and brain are sweet spots for any infection, because if they get there, they are extra protected by the lack of immune response: the joints are too dense for immune cells to easily pass, the eye is protected because vision interferes with immune processes, the brain tissue is delicate so immune cells are limited.

so yes, if your bacteria gets trapped in the brain and your immune response is strong enough, it won't spread and will give you mostly neuro symptoms.

btw i had no idea extreme fatigue is a psychiatric issue. You're telling me after a marathon these guys are not physically fatigued ? They very much look like their entire body is wasted. So if you have problems removing toxins, you have too many an infection and immune response that produces them, then your fatigue is very much physical, not mental !

I would misdiagnose fatigue as some endocrine issue, but not psychiatric. Well, what do i know ... smile

I do. Tho i have never officially tested positive for lyme and only bartonella, i believe i have it. You may want to look into bartonella or babesia as i believe they cause the more severe psychiatric symptoms.

I first got sick with fatigue but as things got worse that gave way to demonstrable psychiatric and neurological symptoms. I now have about 35,876 symptoms in my brain and 2 or 3 physical.

My symptoms started out the end of March as physical but a month later turned into mostly emotional. I have this debilitating depression that just does not lift. It is horrible.

My symptoms started out a long time ago as physical but now I mostly get anxiety, depression, shakes, insomnia when I am stressed for a while. My nervous system crashes and I feel like an exposed nerve. Of course fatigue and huge cognitive issues. I am in the thick of it now and wired and tired. Have now resorted to seeing my psychiatrist. Chris-

I've had this. I had a constant, unbearable level if anxiety to the point of terror for a while and almost as if my body got so exhausted from it, one day it just gave way into this deep, crippling depression. It's horrible, but it did fade.
One thing that keeps me out of it the most, as simple and stupid as this may seem is getting early morning sun. Every morning by 8:00 I'm out in the sun with as little clothing as possible for at least a half hour. If it's cold and I'm wearing a jacket, i at least get sun on my face and in my eyes (don't look directly at the sun obviously)

AM U.V. builds dopamine in our brain and gut and will help with the depression. Figure out a way to kick down the inflammation and that will take you the rest of the way.

hmm good point, I guess what I meant as far as physical was the various pains (joint, muscle) and the rash

Good for you I have been doing this also as I feel its the only way to get D levels up. The supplements do not work for many and a year later they still show depleted levels.

The potential for the 1,25 negative vitamin D conversion (whatever the proper term is) from D3 supplements have totally made me shun them.
