I know the headaches I have aren't migraines, but I wasn't sure where else to put it.

I have a headaches every day. It might not be a bad one, but it's there.. And most of the time tylenol or the like doesn't do anything. I'm not really sure what to do, or whats causing these. My boyfriend tries to troubleshoot it all the time, but to no avail. It's not the shoes I wear, I get enough sleep, I eat, the list goes on. But, I have scoliosis. Do you think this is causing me to have headaches constantly? Help! confused

Hi LeahMaria,

Welcome to Healing Well. Does the pain fluctuate at all? Do you get exacerbations of severe pain? Where abouts in your head is the pain, and what sort of pain is it, burning, throbbing or stabbing?

take care

LeahMaria,

Sounds like Chronic Daily Headache. Do a web search and/or a search of this forum and you'll find lots of info.

One thing to watch out for, especially with daily headaches, is overusing painkillers, either over the counter or prescribed. My neurologist limits me to 2 days per week for any painkiller. The risk is something called "rebound headache", which can be as bad as the original headache.

Most of the preventive medicines for chronic daily headaches are the same as for migraines -- anti-depressants, anti-convulsives, hypertension meds, etc. It's all hit and miss as to what works for an individual patient, so the best bet is to find a doctor who specializes in headaches. Try the National Headache Foundation or American Council for Headache Education websites, which both have lists of physician members.

Good luck!
