I have CDH that transforms to migraines if i dont stop the headache in time. Usually my daily headaches are not that bad, and i can put up with it if meds dont work. However since tuesday i have had a headache that keeps getting worse. Finally today i went to the clinic for an injection. That just knocked me out and got rid of the headache for about 2 hours. i called the doc and he said i could take an imitrex, so i did. Again it put me to sleep and only helped for a few hours. Im awake now and still have my headache. Its not as bad as it was this morning but its enough to piss me off. Can anyone offer any advice on what i could do to help get rid of this headache. I've slept all day so i know that wont help. I probably shouldnt take anymore meds either. Does anyone have relief from caffiene or hot or cold ...i'll try anything!!! please help!

When my headaches are bad I take a cup of coffee, an asprin and a tylonal, this is basically an excedrin migrain but for some reason it works so much better.

I also use the headon sticks. They produce a cooling effect and help with my pain.

I also drink strong herbal teas, usually a mixture of peppermint and ginger.

Take care and I hope you feel better. I have headache that is progressivly getting worse and I am going for a message tomorrow to help get rid of it.

In the United States today, there is a pervasive tendency to treat children as adults, and adults as children. The options of children are thus steadily expanded, while those of adults are progressively constricted. The result is unruly children and childish adults. ~Thomas Szasz

Thanks for the advice. my headache got worse and worse again yesterday so i was back in the clinic. I used a cold rag on my head and neck and that seemed to help slightly. I notice u are on calcium and magnesium...have you had any relief from using those?

I started taking those because I used to get a lot of heart palps due to anxiety and they helped with that. Unfortunalty I have not noticed a relief from headaches with them.

My headaches started after my chiro cracked my neck during a session about two weeks ago and have been getting progressivly worse since then. Last night was terrible. I debated hitting the ER a few times but knew my hubby would not like that (he thinks dr's are useless)
