Quick history: migraines since I was 11 yrs old...onset of menses at this time also. I am now 33.
My migraines have began to last longer are more painful and harder to abort.
Med history: Verapamil, Midrin, Butibital, Zomig, Relpax, Clonodine, Imitrex, Stadol Nasal Spray, Neurontin, Lyrica, other beta blockers, steriods, amitriptilyne, trileptal, depakote, cymbalta. You name I have taken it.
For the past 3 yrs my migraines have gotten worse and worse. I just lost my job (I am a RN) due to being in and out of the hospital for the past 3 weeks. This migraine has been the longest thus far and I am beginning to think it is not going to go away this time. I get the auras, tingling in my scalp, sometimes I just dont feel right before the onset of my migraines.
This one began on a Sat Sept 13, a week before my birthday is why I know the date.
I have been to my Dr. given toradol and phenergan IM shots. Then to ER had CT which never shows anything. Gave me compazine, benedryl and toradol IV. Relieved the pain from a 10 to a 3. The pain never went away.
Then back to the Dr. gave me IM Nubain and phenergan. NO relief at all.
Went back to ER. This time Doc gave me IV Dilaudid. This did help the most. However pain is still not gone.
Went back to Doc, he is thinking aneurysum and orders MRI/MRA. Insurance denies it!
Doc orders 2 mg of oral dilaudid every 4 hours and diagnosed me with status migranous.
So here I sit a nurse without insurance and in pain for almost 1 month. Does anyone have any tricks to help this pain stop? I am at my wits end?
This is going to end up costing me my career, which I just graduated in May with Honors from Nursing school. ARGHHHH I am so frustrated!
Thanks for listening, people who dont have migraines dont understand. I did have a bit of an edge in the ER being a nurse, thank God for that.
