Good morning everyone,

On December31,2008 I was hit in the head with a metal bar, that fell off of a rack that was about 8' over my head, which in turn split my head open giving me 6 staples to close it,  since then i have had a headache from****.  Work sent me to their doctor, which in turn sent to a Neurologists .  Long story short. I have had a sleep study done, along with a nap study, i am now comming off of topamax due to not being able to feel my finger, toes , face etc. (i have lost the feeling in my fingers while draining speg. noodles and burned my stomach)  the side effects have been terrible and the pills have not helped my head at all.  1st dr put me on naproxen sodium 550 mg 1 tab 3 x a day, tizandidine hcl 4 mg  1 - 2 tablets at bed time plus i was on darvocetn 100's, those did not work , went on topamax 25 mg at nite then to 25mg in am and 25 mg at night, up to 50 mg at night,  now i am comming off.  My memory is short, fuse is short and I have been taken off work due to the headache.(i have not worked since 1/3/09) Now i am being put on depakote 500 mg extended release tabs twice a day and folic acisd 1 mg tablets 4 x a day.

I am tired of having a headache, of being tired, etc.  My family(husband and two teenage children ) are having a hard time coping with this.  They keep saying they just want their mom back.   I am so tired of crying, feeling  out of sorts,  This has totally turned my life and my family life upside down.

Is there any one out there that has any suggestions or ideas, that I could take with me to my next dr's apt on the 18th.

thanks for reading this.   I am so thankful i came across this site.

LoL-I was gonna say from my little medical training that you have a concussion. As for the memory loss, you could perhaps have either some kind of amnesia from the trauma or some kind of brain injury from the thingy hitting your head. I'm gonna look some things up in the bookies... I'll repost in a bit

Aight, I'm back. You should see about perhaps a CAT Scan, MRI. I'm thinkin swelling, inflamation of muscles on nerves, bleeding. Sometimes a muscle can be so inflamed, especially after injury, that it presses against nerves and triggers some other pain. Best of luck.
