My head started to hurt like a sinus headache and then it just got worse turning into a migraine with vomiting. I need to know what meds I could ask for this type of headace. Is it am actually sinus issue or a migraine? I've had both and it starts out as one ending as the worst kind of headache.

Any suggestions?

Hi J_Rene!!

I think that you should talk this over with a neurologist, and i am certain that he/ she can help you to test something that can help you with your problems.

Hope you get better soon!!!  Bye / Sweden

Hey J-Rene: We might as well be twins. I usually post on the Fibro, website, ex├žellent website, very active. I was hit by a truck in 09/02. Never had a headache before that, except after a New Years Eve Party. Aspirin fixed that. In 09/02 I was a pedestrian hit in a crosswalk. I walked away, but was in shock and realised later, I was in much worse shape than I ever imagined. The accident involved my whole body being twisted like a top, as the truck hit my back and then my purse hooked into his side mirror, and I was violently swung in a counterclockwise spin.My injuries were neck, facet joints and left ankle. Then the lawsuit. Then trying to live on 140.00 a week, paid every three months, maximum allowable, while lawyers fought for three years. Then foreclosure on my house, my car, I offered them my two teenage boys who I was raising alone, but they left me those. The headaches started through-out this time. The sinus was apart of it. I tried to fly once after the accident, I had unrelenting, most excruciating pain ever in my forehead, had ice pack on head and cried for three thousand miles. Won't do that again. Then bright lights, loud noises became abhorrent. My headache was somewhat lessened by dripping a lidocaine soln. into my right nostril, while lying with head hanging off edge of bed. My headacheds are 90% on left behind eye, in temple. I can feel a blood vessel throb in the temple. Originally, I took advil liquidgels, laid in dark room, ice pack on head, usually after 2nd dose it would recede. then it no longer worked. Then a lady told me Fiorcet (has a sedative in it like phenobarbutal), it sort of worked. Although I wasn't a great candidate for them, Doc started me on triptans. I take zomig. Exactly 20 minutes after I take it (the zomig pill), no headache. Occasional chest pains, but no headache.Good luck.

I had a severe headache early November 2008. My GP thought it was a migraine and gave me medication for a migraine. I ended up in hospital with a sphenoid sinus infection on the right side. Have had a headache since, nearly everyday. Always on the right side. My ear also nearly always feels blocked. The headache varies. It can start just over the ear, on the back on the base of the head and lately it has been continuous pressure on the top. I have facial pressure around the eye up to the nose. I was on antibioticks for 2 months, steroids, migraine medication, anti inflammataries and every pain killer one can buy over the counter. I have seen 2 Neurologists, 2 ENT's and several GP's. All my blood tests, CT scans and MRI are all within the normal range and no one can give me an answer as what the headaches are cause from. I often get dizziness and nausea. I didn't go to work for 3 months and have started back since February but can hardly manage to work full days. Good Luck with the doctors. Please let me know if you have any success with medication that works.

I feel very badly for you. I really keep the number of docs to a minimum as much as possible, because sometimes they want to undo what others are doing because they think they know better. The thing is, I know better about my body and you know better about yours. That's why we  don't go to specialists for an edict, but rather we go for a consultatation.

So, one thing I discovered was a severe allergy to mould. It was making me extremely sick and I had to literally "run"away from it. It was causing sinus problems, lots of infections which in turn were causing migraines.

So, I started a good sinus cleansing program with "normal saline"which apparently you can mix a teaspoon of salt into a cuo of clean (sterilized), or boiled water, and when it is body temperature spray in sinus until it runs out other sinus. Sounds gorey but it's good for you. Also, I thought this rather interesting, if you have thick or long hair, wash before bedtime so as to avoid transfer of pathogens to pillow which you then breathe. And of course, when all else fails, take a triptan (Imitrex), made me groggy, Zomig (which did not).
