i am getting tired of this pain in my head, i had an mri and an mra, both came back negative yet i still worry. what do i do? its likes the icepick, but somtimes its not it will last alot longer than it used to...neuro tell me it's just anxiety and stress and to just exercise, and try to relax but how can i relax when im always in pain..one says it may be related to my neck, the other says it's a blood vessel, what is going on in there? should i have another mri and mra or should i just trust what they are telling me? :(

FIND ANOTHER DOCTOR!!!

Most people I know have anxiety (about something) and stress (about a a lot of things) and don't have painful "icepick" type head pain.

I would imagine that the MRI/MRA is correct but that doesn't mean something isn't there. There are a lot of reasons for head pains...Maybe you could list your symptoms, where the pain is, how often it happens, is it related to anything (it happens after you eat, or after exercise)

We are not doctors but are here for support and understand. I would definitely find a new doctor, a headache specialist and keep going until someone helps you!

Feel better soon,

I have posted it once before but here it is
have been having a rough few months lately. I am 26 years old male average weight, bout 5'9. My problem first began about 3 maybe 4 years ago. I started getting this strange poke almost like a sting in the top right side of my head. It had only happend that one time so I thought nothing of it but over the years it began happening more. But, always in the same spot. The pain's were very transient, gone in flash much like the so called ice pick headache. Well just this year in about mid-august the pain started going crazy. Every day for months somtimes 30 times a day i was gettting stung in my head what felt much like a needle. Naturally freaking out, I went see a neurologist, and had and MRIwith and without contrast and an MRA w/o contrast both of which came back normal. The pains now don't quite fit the ice pick head ache because somtimes the pains will last for hours or even a dull ache or pressure in the spot. I never had migraines growing up. Headaches were normal as they come now and then. I have tried a few meds that are supposed to help like indomethacin which actually the next day gave me a real pounding migraine. now on top of that the pain have been changing locations. On the left side on the right. Also i have been getting pain around my eyes, by my brow inside my eyes like aching or just like a dull pain. Also i have developed what seems to be ghosted images in both my eyes when looking at somthing like an LED clock at night, or black and white subtitles... what could cause all this? the match some pretty scary things but my exams from the ompthamologist and neurologist and radiologist says there are no abnormalities. Has anyone experienced this? The doctors seem to know what they are talking about. But what am I to do? I been looking for answers and im running out of money being i have no insurance...any advice and support would be most helpfull...anxiety and stress are what im being told and treated for at the moment with clonzepam. Sorry for the long post. I don't know has anyone had success ridding similar chronice pain in the had problems. these are non organic pains according to multiple specialists...
the pain is on the top right side my head sometimes they last one second somtimes the pain will last for a an hour and go away, which will continue to happen over 3 hours or more. It is a pain a small spot and it somtimes radiates outward. I havent been to a headache specailist just two neurologists. I also get similar pain on the top side of my head also a very small sized pain. Is there other things I could be overlooking that could cause head pain like this? I get these blisters on my feet quite often and it seems like a virus because they keep coming back, i don't know if it could be related but i am getting it cultured on friday. I have also been seeing a chiropractor who revealed that i have a straightened neck in an xray, but a neurologist says its not likely the cause...I am starting to lose it, i get all freaked out and think that I am bleeding a very small leak in my brain somtimes. Somtimes when they hit my heart jumps i dont know if just getting scared or it is really causing it. somtimes ill see like a black spot in my vision that will come and go and this morning when i woke up i saw weird purple flash when i put my glasses on...I keep searching the web everyday....i just don't know what do anymore...

Hi there - I was just on here doing some research and found your post...have you found an answer to your problem with your stabbing headaches?  They sound very similar to mine.  I have gone the indomethicin route as well and even topimax but nothing works, they keep on stabbing.  The only thing that I have found that keeps things at bay is the chiropractor - but nothing has been able to cure it yet.  I have a strange feeling that it is nerve related.  When I look down for a period of time, or if I shake my head suddenly, or if someone bumps my head etc, it can also set it off - or it can just hit all on its own - just as you describe.  The stabs can be awful.  When they are stabbing - nothing takes that pain away - I have had demoral and it doesn't touch it.  If you check back here and see this post, I would be interested in hearing from you.

Thanks!
