Hi,

Welcome to Healingwell. So sorry to hear you have been suffering. Do you just have one attack every day, or more than one, and how long do your attacks last for? Sorry to ask so many questions but it can help to point you in the right direction.

What sort of pain do you experience with your headaches, dull, achy, stabbing, pulsating? Which painkillers have you been given?

take care

thanks for replying back to me. these attacks last for about 6 hours with the peak of the pain lasting just over an hour. i have a dull ache all day long and wake up with a pain. these pains are a pounding behind behind my eye. also they are around my eye socket up my forehead and down my cheek. they are always on the same side and they always start at the same time everyday.

they painkillers i am on are called tramake 50 mg and they have done nothing for me.

any advice

Do you get any other symptoms with the pain, such as reddening of the eye, eye watering and or drooping? Does your nose feel blocked on the affected side? Talk to your Doc about Imitrex injections, not the tablets but the injections, you may well find that they help.

They are very easy to self administer, you don't see the needle it all comes in a cartridge with simple to follow instructions, it stings a little but that is only momentary, but if this works for you the relief will far out way the sting!!! But please talk to your Doc about these first as they do not suit everyone!

In the meantime, find yourself a Neurologist who is a Headache Specialist as they will be far more knowledgeable of your situation and will find the best treatment for you!

Please let me know how you get on?

take care

Sorry not to have replied before, but had a bad couple of days.

It may be that you have two conditions going on here. The continuous pain sounds as though it may well be a sinus problem, but you do not get an eye droop with that or a watery eye!!!

The severe pain you are getting does fit in with symptoms for Cluster Headache. Which is typically an attack lasting from 45 minutes to 3 hours around they eye orbit and behind with the eye drooping and watering, together with pain in the temple and into the jaw. These attacks are the same time every day, some sufferers can set their watches by them!!

Please have a look on www.ouchuk.org This web address is available within information on the Healing Well site. See if you can identify with anything here, and if you do please phone the helpline that is available there, and you will get some real support!

I would point out that Cluster Headache is often mis-diagnosed as sinus problems!!!

Having said all that I really do hope that I am completely wrong here for your sake, and that the meds the Doc has given you will clear it all up! Please let me know how you get on?

take care
