Hi everyone,

It's my first post here and I'm very grateful to have found what seem to be similar cases to what I am experiencing. I would welcome any feedback as to what people think my condition may be. My symptoms have been around for about 8 months and are deteriorating. They are:

Continual (every waking moment) pressure (non-throbbing). Varying severity. Mostly at the front of my head but sometimes on the side.
The pressure in the forehead feels like I need to squeeze my teeth together to release it.
Dizziness
Memory loss - recollection of words and information deteriorates massively
- unable to recall recent conversations
Tiredness
Balance problems (not feinting)

I have been to see a neurologist and he has advised me I have a migraine with aura and told me to look at the Migraine Trust website for details on how to treat it, then to refer to my GP to start a course of meds. However, upon further reading I do not think I have a migraine with aura symptoms as they seem to be throbbing or pounding pain, light sensitivity and vomiting and I have none of these.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I may have (it may well be a migraine with aura, I just cant seem to match my symptoms).

Thanks in advance

That alarms me that you had such a misguiding experience with a licensed Neurologist. It is in my personal and professional medical opinion that you ask a second opinion. You need a doctor whom will listen to you. You're memory loss and balance issues shows a neurological issue. However, it can be an "aura" as well. For the pressure, perhaps sinus. I would suggest going back to your primary pcp and asking for another referral to a different neurologist. It could be many minor things as well as some serious things. Your symptoms just fit way too many things without proper testing to role out things. Please seek treatment. Remember, we are not doctors, we are just people who suffer from these medical problems.

thank you so much for your response. I've already got another referral for a second opinion because it just did not feel right to me. I've noticed that I found it difficult to ask the right questions. Do you have any tips what I can ask and are there any particularly tests I should be asking for? Thanks a lot!!!

I also have constant 24/7 head pressure.  I have no diagnosis but only a couple of my 15 or so symptoms resemble some aspects of migraine/aura phenomena.  The important thing to remember is this, usually, a migraine is NOT constant.  However, my head pressure is.  I have some degree of it every single minute of my life, and have for 6 years.  This leads me to believe that migraine is not the primary cause.

I've recently started to examine the original idea, that it's my sinuses.  But with no insurance, I can't get testing done.

Sometimes you can get a wierd pressure and numbness when you got muscles pressing against nerves. This compression could be fixed by a chiropractor. Even pinched nerves if located in the right spot. I devoloped that after a car accident, and the chiropractor figured out where I needed the adjustment and got the feeling and numbness back. As for tests, blood work to check your vital organs, MRI of sinus' and a cat scan of head. Cat scans are more in depth than MRI's but when sinus' come to play mri's are better. Migraines are caused by so many things. As for not being able to afford tests for the other user, if you suspect your allergies are the issue you can always try benedryl or any anahistmine (sp its too big to spell when its middle of night lol) along with your regular medication that you use on your migraines. Remember, we are not doctors. We are patients who have similar problems.
