This is my long story...but I will try to make it brief. I'm a 57 woman and 19 years ago out of the blue I started have these what I called stroke-like episodes. I was watching tv with my kids and I got very dizzy, the room got dark, I had right side weakness, pins nedles and numbness, slurred speech, blurred vision, racey heart, etc. It was like all hell broke loose.

Over the past 19 years I've had every kind of test and DX. They even said I was crazy so I went through 3 yrs of counseling and meds,. They even convinced me to get a hysterectomy. I don't have much of a headache just head pressure. Well recently I've started seeing flashes of light like moving prisms , I get a sharp pain in my stomach w/upset stomach and the episodes have increase to the point I'm in the bed 3-4X a week. The rightsided numbness is making walking a problem.

I feel I've been mis diagnosed and may be having migraines without the big headaches. 2 questions

Does this sound like migraines?
Does anyone know of any doctors on Long Island NY?

My daughter and son and sister all suffer from migraines. My son gets the arm and leg paralisis.

Hi camary,

Welcome to Healing Well. So sorry to hear you are going through this. Have you seen a Neurologist who is a Headache Specialist, as I am in the UK I do know of anywhere you can try, hopefully someone will come along with some ideas.

It is important that you see a Neurologist who specialises in headache as they are best placed to find out what is happening to you. There are many variants of Migraine and it is important that you see someone who knows what they are talking about to help you get the right treatment.

take care

Hi guys ,

If you are suffering from severe headache over a period of time then you must take Imitrex tablet. This medication is used to treat migraine headache attacks once they occur. It is not effective in preventing migraines. This medication is not to be used for other types of headaches. One dose is taken by mouth at the first signs of a migraine attack.

To know more about this please visit the RxPharmastore where you can find information on this tablet and many more.

Thank you Ann. I have seen at least 30 or more neurologist over the years and not one said anything about migraines. I will go to another one because the new symptom that I have is flashing moving lights, but I will take your advice and see on that deals with migraines.

This week I have been bedridden 3 days this week from this and have extreme fatigue and head weirdness from it.

I live in NY and there are 3 headache centers which one should I go to?
