I have suffered from continuous head tightness for roughly the last 15-20 years. It used to just intensify when I read or did something that required concentration. However, now severe head tightness is constant.
Obviously I have been to a number of doctors i.e. neurologists/headache specialists, had a number of tests blood/MRI's and taken a number of medications i.e. tricyclics, ssri's, anti-seizure medications. However, none has helped.
Recently in my never ending quest to find a solution to this problem I came across this website. Specifically, I came across a post from 2006 posted by a user named Tulip who described similar symptoms as my own. She stated that her physician told her that her constant head tightness was due to inflamed blood vessels in her head. She also said that her physician put her on medication that would help to reduce the inflammation.
I have two questions. First, what was the medication that she was put on? Second, did it work? Since Tulip's last post was in 2006, I am unable to get in touch with her. If someone knows what the out come of her treatment was, I would like to know. Additionally, what medications are others on to reduce blood vessel swelling in their head. Are any of these medications working? Any information about whole head tightness and how to resolve it would be greatly appreciated. This condition has plagued me a very long time.
As an aside, the whole head tightness went away for 2 days about 10 years ago. I took benadryl for allergies and amazingly enough, the head tightness just disappeared. Unfortunately, this never happened again. I took a number of antihistamines to try to replicate this relief. Unfortunately, no antihistamine duplicated this result. If anyone has had this same experience, I would be very interested to hear. I also would be interested to know if anyone knows why this happened and if there is any similar medication I could take to duplicate it.
I appreciate any and all input. Thanks.
