A few months ago I experienced pain behind my left eye. At first it was behind the outer corner of the eye and spread above the eye. This became a lot more painful if I bent over, coughed, sneezed or rubbed/put pressure on my eye. The pain was always there and sometimes it spread up my forehead. It also spread from the eye towards the back of my head. I was taking pain killers continuously for about 8 weeks until the pain stopped. I visited the doctor several times. She first suggested migraines but thought it unusual to have been a consistant thing for a long period of time. She also wondered about shingles (I have had this before), however there were no blisters. She sent me to the eye clinic at the RVI in Newcastle. They looked into my eye and found nothing. I went back to the doctors but it was at this time that it stopped so we did nothing.
I had a slight pain a few days ago in the same part behind my eye, then it came back yesterday and has been with me since. I'm worried it is starting up again. I have looked at feedback given on these forums and I feel overwhelmed by the amount of different possibilities that could be causing this.
Something that may be unrelated - Over the past 6 or so years I have experienced occasional pins and needles and numbness in my upper back, mostly across the shoulder blades (usually on one side but has been both). This has also occasionally moved down to my hand where I have to wiggle my fingers to get feeling back. This feeling never caused me pain, just felt wierd. This started ages ago and may be unrelated. It was when I was reading about someone elses symptoms that made me think it.
Hope someone can help.
