I see my doc tomorrow and the only abortive medication I am on is midrin, which just does not work. Does any one have any recomendations?  Also I am taking topamax as a preventative and it is making my depression and anxiety worse, has anyone else experienced this?
Ativan .5 as needed for anxiety
topamax 100mg ---preventative for migranes
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Have tried effexor, prozac and celexa for depression

Have tried maxalt, and imitrex for migranes

Depression and anxiety can be a tricky package to treat when you are on the topamax.  I'm on 400mg topamax, just moved up from 200mg.  I take 400mg Effexor XR, 300mg Wellbutrin, and 4mg Klonopin, which handles the stress and anxiety pretty well.  As for abortives, I've pretty much gone through everything there is over the last thirty-eight years I've had migraines, and by far for me, Stadol Nasal Spray is the fastest, easiest, and most successful medication of anything I have ever tried.

Like I said before, I've tried everything, and these work best for me.

Let me know how your doctor appt.goes!

Hi Leigh Ann,

How do you find the Effexor works?

the preventatives i've tried:  amytriptaline, depakot, propranolol.  these do not make my depression worse.  for depression i take: lexapro, and i really like it.

Ally-

Make a list of concerns and write them down before you see your doctor, so you don't forget and so they can't rush you out of there.

I think it may be a matter of tweaking the dosages.

I am taking 400mg Topamax and Wellbutrin (I forget the dosage on that)

Hang in there-Hugs

Just one other quick side note-

I found that once I got the migraines under control some...the depression and anxiety soon followed. They are a package deal.

When you are down with a migraine all the time and that affects everything you do, or better yet, don't do....How are you expected NOT to be depressed?
