Somedays i can feel it but its weak and other days its exreamly bad. i take drugs like tylenol and when they get really bad i take tylenol 3 but all they do is stop from for a acouple hours then its back again. They start right in the morning and dont end. I am asking someone for help on this one becuase i have not gone to the doctor yet. I need to know if it could be something serious or just stress becuase i really dont want to wast alot of time waiting at the doctors becuase of stress. Also my ears the get really red and hot at random times during the day. So if anyone can help me with this that would be great.

Do a search on this forum for "rebound headaches". Taking tylenol or other pain killers more than a couple times a week can actually cause worse headaches over the long term. That sounds exactly like what you're suffering. It may take a month or two of no painkillers until the rebound pain subsides. What you need to do is see a headache doctor, probably a neurologist, to get on a preventative medication. There are lots of different preventatives, each with their own pluses and side effects -- you need to talk with a doctor to discuss your best options. Good luck!

Hey Dan,

For over a year now I haven't had a pain free day, so I understand now what you are going through.  I've been diagonised with a chronic/static migraine on top of TMJ, neck muscle and rebound headaches.  I really think you need to see a nuerologist who can get you on a preventative medicine and find some medicines to take that are not narcotics.  I agree with kymark about the rebound headaches and I know it sucks but sometimes toughing it out is the best way.  I haven't taken any OTC medicines since Jan and I've been better for it.  Of course, I break down sometimes and take the heavy duty drugs; but if it is tolerable than I just suffer.  The reason is the very first headache lasted two weeks and then put me in the hosptial for 5 days mainly because of the rebound.

I really hope you see in a doctor.  If you live in the Washington DC/Baltimore area I can reccomend a few for you.  Best of luck to you.  I wish you a pain free future.

Take care,

Michelle
