Well, I do....but not nearly as awful as what Rhonda might be experiencing.  I did some googling this morning and found a few sites that talk about the two types of headaches that Rhonda's doctors are suggesting maybe she's experiencing.

Here's why *I* have a headache:  The sites that talk about the same kind of headache (either an "ocular migraine" or a "basilar migraine") seem to contradict themselves. For example, one of the sites talking about "ocular migraine" suggest it is "painless"; the next talks about "excrutiating pain".  When I start reading about "basilar migraines" one talks about using the more common migraine meds, the other says no, those won't work.

No WONDER I have a headache. And until Rhonda's doctor figure out for certain WHAT kind of migraines she might be experiencing..if they're migraines at all!..they probably have headaches, too.

And the uncertainty and contradictions can only be making your headaches worse, Rhonda!

At any rate, here's where I've been reading.  See if you can make any sense of it. Or at least maybe print these out and take them to your doctor and say something like, "OK guys, which IS it??? What do I do NOW???"

Good luck!

WOW Uppity!!

Thanks!! U'r absolutely right...the information is very confusing and contradicts itself...so u see why i'm not settled on the whole migraine idea yet. My original symtoms were sooooo ms'ish..but then later i was told these symptoms were actaully part of the migraines. I was having stroke like symptoms that were from a headache. It was all very confusing to me then too! The funny thing is...i began with these weird symptoms...but no pain. Only later did i start having pain in my eye..but the symptoms began to wane. Again, confusing. Now i have almost no stroke/ms like symptoms, but have all the pain and very frequently at that! I can't make heads or tails of what it could really be, but i am certain there is something neurological going on..whether its ms or something outside the cns. This is a great idea...to print and take this to my doc. I will! Thanks Uppity!

Hi all,

I have been diagnosed with ocular migraines. Mine are usually painless. They're usually "auras" like flashing zigzag pattern, flicking light (old movie reel) in a top portion of visual field, seeing through flame (you know when it really hot outside and the air is kinda wavy and a partial loss of visual field (it went grey like when the tv reception is bad, like snowy). That's the best way I can explain them. Now, I have also had pain when I move my eye. I still don't know what does that. It happens once in a while. Only last a couple of days. I take Ibuprofen and it usually helps.

                     Sincerely, Nicaribbean

Hey Nic

I get that pain when moving my eye too and most often it's a stand alone symptom...no headache then. It CAN be a precurser to the eye pain, but not always. I have had some of those waves u speak of, but really not much. Moreso things like my vision jumping or ummm..like the whole picture just moves about. I can press on a certain place on the back of my head..where i have pain sometimes...and it makes everything get really wavey. THAT"S funky!!! So, i don't press on that place!! I"m so glad u don't hava any pain with this...it seems that if that's what is going on with me then it's just going to be here to last as it's not gettng any better. Take care and best wishes to u on NOT getting any pain!
