Hi all, just wondering if anyone has this issue, I'm sure someone does but just checking.

I feel like my memory is going pretty fast, There is times when I will forget something within minutes, or sometimes weeks. The big thing that has been going on is my dreams. I'm having a hard time telling the difference between dreams or if stuff really happened.

Something will pop in my head, and when I think about it I don't know if it really happened or if I dreamnt it? kinda weird I know but this is the best way I can describe it.

I don't want this to affect anything important in my life.

Anyone have this problem or am I just a head case.?

Do you have MS? Cognitive problems can happen with MS. Memory loss and dysfunction like you describe can also be the results of some medications, like sleeping aids. But of course things like aging can affect memory, too... So no, you're not a "head case", and it does happen to lots of folks, for lots of reasons.

I keep a pad with me, jot stuff down, and then hope I don't forget where I put the pad...

I do have MS, been dx'd for about a year now.

I tried the notepad thing, but found it hard to carry it around all the time, I guess it's because it is a notebook, not a small notepad. Maybe I'll try that, but I can see my 2 kids getting a hold of it and tearing it up.

I don't really take any sleep aids, and I'm turning 30 in April.
Its just very hard to balance everything that goes on for me in a single day let alone try to remember everything. I hate this disease.

Hey Tertle

I was having LOTS of memory probs awhile back and it was pretty much like u describe, but without the dream confusion. I would be told something and just minutes later couldn't recall what that was. Sometimes i'd remember the conv that the info occured in, but not the info. It was completely frustrating! I found that a little pen sized digital recorder was handy. I used it awhile and of course when i'd forget it i'd forget that i'd forgotten it...so when i realized i needed it...well it was too late. ANYWAY...now that u'r thoroughly confused...maybe try that. It was pretty easy to carry around because i could slide it in the pocket of my jeans or on the strap of my purse...when i remembered to get it. ;)

Thanks Rhonda, I was actually thinking about some kind of recorder, I didn't know they made them that small, I will defenitley look for one of those.

Your right it is very frustrating, is there some kind of medication to help with this? or something else I could look into.

Ask your doctor about meds that they're giving to people with Alzheimer's..I think it's called Aricept?  It seems to also help with memory loss with us with MS.

Hey Tertle

Well i'm not sure of what kind of med u could use for this. I never had anything suggested to me...that i can remember!...so i just worked hard to find ways to just keep up with life! I do now take Ginko Biloba which is a natural supplement. Check with u'r doc before adding any sort of supplements tho..just to be sure it's ok. I also used this supplement some years ago before i noticed any overt symptoms, but was having memory probs and i noticed it did help. Now i'm not so sure. Sorry.

I have an appoitment next Monday, so I will bring that up, I haven't been in to see him for at least 4 months.

Even after my amblulance ride to the Hospital and 3 day stay, he didn't want to see me right away. I was even in his hospital and he didn't come up to see me. So I hope that he will show some concern. I have been considering looking into a new doc, but never seem to have the time. Thanks again for the input.

Hey Tertle

Here is a link to some digital recorders. I am sitting here shopping for myself, so thought i'd also look to see what is avail on this! The one i have is pretty small and was around $50. Digital recorders are great because u can actually create files and names for those files just as u would on u'r computer! So u can record many things and save them for multiple purposes. Anyway, here's just a sample of what u may encounter.
