Hi everyone,

Had a followup with my neuro today, and had the hives to show her.  Like I thought - her first reaction was allergist or dermatologist.  I explained that this is how my whole escapade started in 1988.  Only the hives progressed to a point that I looked the elephant man, swollen, distorted, covered in welts that I ended up hospitalized.

Well, between that and the returning joint pain, she sent me for bloodwork (6 vials, I feel empty now), a urinalysis, and is contacting a rhemy who couldn't give me an appt until May, to try to get me in sooner.  Now we're back to looking for lupus, vasculities, or some other autoimmune dx.

I left her office totally deflated.  Not that I want MS, but what I have/had has a name and a treatment.  She did tell me the MRI for ON came back negative, but I definately have lesions.  I asked if I have MS plus an autoimmune, and she said the lesions can be from autoimmune, but some of the overlapping symptoms I have could be neuro.

I'm confused, and frustrated.  Just needed to get it out.  Can't do anything until bloodwork comes back and rhemy sees me.  Thanks for being here.

I'll probably miss chat tonight going out to dinner.

Hugs,
Debbie

There are lots of autoimmune diseases, and lots of diseases/disorders that can cause lesions to appear on an MRI. So if the ON came back negative, and you have other symptoms of a different autoimmune disease than MS, it's possible that you DON'T have MS, but instead have something else...like lupus, vasculitis, etc. Or indeed you could have both. I'm sorry.

Hang in there and please keep us updated,
