I have a overwhelming sense that I need go towards the left.  If I relax and close my eyes I actually start to fall to the left.  I sometimes have to concentrate to keep upright.

Very odd, anyone have this sensation.  Did anyone see a doctor about this.

Hey Anita!

Good to see u here again! I"m sorry about the leaning, but yes, i've had that and i suspect many others here will tell u the same. It is this really uncontrolled sense that u are not able to walk straight and no matter how hard u try u can't straighten up! I did that same thing. First with my initial issues i walked to the right...all my symptoms have been right sided. I'm not sure there is anything to do about it, but be sure to bring it up to u'r doc at least. Maybe even a call in. Take care friend.

Hey Anita,

Yes I have had this.  I have chronic vertigo and at times I have had the careening to one side thing.  Do you have a lesion on your cerebellum or your brain stem?  Both of those locations cause balance and vertigo problems.  If this is a new problem and it lasts you need to talk to your doctor.  You may want your ears checked.  This could be an inner ear infection as well.  Good luck with getting some relief.

have listing as well, but i feel i'm falling backwards. often pulled down to seated position if i crouch to pick up something. not all that graceful at all! this was the cause of my fractured ankle a couple of years ago. sometimes i feel like people viewing me must think i'm quite drunk! LOL! hate it when my neuro makes me do the heel-toe walk. luckily haven't been pulled over by the police or i'd definitely flunk the sobriety test! linda

hi there,
I always am a "lefty", hahaha. I think my problem is because its my left side that is weak tho. Unlike Gretchen, i dont have the vertigo, thank goodness, that would drive me crazy. I had it once several years ago when my eyes went crazy, but it subsided in a few days. I felt like i wasnt in my own body. I hope that never comes back. I do walk with a cane, and that helps me from not falling over.
Take care

Hey Anita,

I hope this is better for you now, but wanted to let you know I also have this, and mine is due to a lesion on my cerebellum. Please be careful as this kind of thing can lead to falls. I find that touching walls, furniture etc helps me keep my balance.

yep, I lean to the left when I walk or stand still( almost fall over). I don't know where all of my lesions are, but I do know there is one on my cerebellum, neuro Doc told me this when I was diagnosed. Best wishes to you..were all in this together. I find this forum so helpful. Not that I want to see anyone suffer, but it is nice I can relate to what I am going thorugh with others who are also going through this and understand. Blessings~Katie

Yes i have had "run-ins" with walls, people, get out of bed and falling to the flour like gravity had shifted. i was/Im a "righty" haha that's funny however, it was because i had started Neurontin which has documented side effects that concern the middle ear. Imagine that! I thought I was in serious hot water but it went away after my body adjusted to the new med.
i never did walk straight to begin with. Sometimes when i walk with my husband we just look like we are very romanticly in love and can be away from each other...its me holding on so i don't look like a drunk weaving down the street or where ever we are walking.

and it happens when i close my eyes for a while like washing face....I wash one eye at a time so i can keep some prospective on my surroundings.

so get romantic with your hubby and be a pirate in the shower. I bet you'll never hear that advice again in your life.
