Hey everyone!  Sorry I haven't been on much over the summer.  I have checked in from time to time but haven't posted.  The summer went by soooo fast.  The kids kept me busy...whew!  Thank goodness for school starting...the summer heat and the kids' boundless energy were tiring me out!

Anyways, the last couple of weeks I have noticed more of my old ms symptoms creeping back in.  It started with going to Busch Gardens Labor Day weekend.  I noticed I was extra tired the next day (but it was also the morning after my shot so I contributed it to that).  Then the day after that, while in the shower, I had a terrible muscle spasm in my left upper back that I could barely move.  I was just standing there not doing anything when the spasm hit, either.  Crazy!  So that put me completely out of commission for the rest of that day.  I took Flexeril twice that day and it helped me sleep through the pain for the most part.  I hurt for the better part of the following week with it, but I was able to function for the most part.  Then I noticed at some point that my left hand felt stiff and achy and  sometimes left arm would hurt.  Then this buzzing or vibration feeling started in my legs...doesn't hurt, just feels funny.

On Monday I had a follow up with the neurologist and told him about all these things but he felt like they were just old stuff to deal with.  I didn't say anything, but in the back of my head I was thinking that an attack was starting.  I was busy all day that day, and by that evening, I was feeling terrible...very fatigued, achy all over, my legs by this point felt like they were going to take off they were vibrating so strongly.  After a little while, the buzzing felt more like tingling in my legs and now my left arm too.  Have any of you felt this weird feeling?  Well, then yesterday I still felt badly and I woke up with weakness in my left leg.  This afternoon I started feeling better...I am not walking with a limp and my hand doesn't hurt like before (as you can see from the long note :))  I thought attacks were more sudden than gradual and lasted longer than a couple of weeks.  I am wondering if it is over or if I am going to find myself with more stuff to deal with.  Maybe this is just a reprieve of some sort.    What do you think?  Sorry,  I am still pretty new to all this...

Hey Nurse

Well let me start by saying that if these are old symptoms, this can be a 'pseudo flare'. That is just a renewing of symptoms, but not a full blown flare...thank goodness! I am not dx'd with ms. If fact i'm told i don't have ms, but i do have many of the probs associated with ms. I get that pain and weakness in the legs...esp after a long day. A long day for me varies too. It's just so weird with the nervous system. One day to the next is so radically diff most days. U just have to continue to adjust u'r reading of what is u'r limit. Maybe some days u can do more than others, but u always have to be careful and watchful for u'rself. The buzzing is something i live with daily. No, it's not painful, and as far as i know not something u have to worry about. I'm so sorry for all this. I know it's confusing and frustrating to say the least. Continue to be watchful over u'r symptoms and health friend. Take care and let us know how u are. It's so good to see u again, but i'm so sorry it's because u have been in pain.

Hey Kathy,

It is good to see you again.  Well you have asked some really good questions and I have no idea what the answer is.  That is the great mystery of MS.  It is different for everyone.  You could just be tired and over doing it or maybe fighting some minor bug/cold/infection, or this could be a flare.  I am not sure your doctor could even be sure.  Just rest as much as you can.  Try to de-stress, and monitor those symptoms really closely.

Rest is really really important.  Good luck and please keep us posted.

Thanks guys! Sometimes it is all very confusing, especially when symptoms come and go, come and go and so on, minute to minute, day today. You get the picture. Anyways, I feel more like myself still today, so I am thinking maybe I had a touch of a virus too like you said. Thanks for listening. Well, I better go...my husband is waiting to "shoot" me. LOL Talk to you later.... Kathy

It hard to say with MS, you can have an attack that last a day or months. My husband also gets that vibration feeling. What you have to remember is it happens when you have done too much or have too much stress, most the time anyway. Make sure you rest so your body can heal. My husband has 11 family members with MS and he has been involved in a study at the University of Utah. Please make sure you allow your body to rest, and if you have any questions I hope we can help. Hope all is well, SHannon

Thanks Shannon for your reply. Wow...11 family members! I think that would definitely qualify you all to be experts on the subject. I can relate to the doing too much and then feeling my body fading. This spell just was different, alot worse than the normal tiredness, so I figured there must have been an extenuating circumstance. I try to rest, but it is so hard to with three small children. Poor things...it's hard for them too. 2]

smilewinkgrin  I have had the buzzing feeling in my legs and feet. Sometimes it would last all day at work. I describe it as a very low volt of electricity like I'm plugged into an outlet. Annoying isn't it? Hope this helps.

Kathy/nursekatb is newly diagnosed (check out her signature).  She is a nurse and a full time mom/wife.  She is only on here sporadically and it might be a while before she is back.  I just thought I would let you know.

Kathy, I hope I didn't step on any toes by responding for you.  I hope you are well.  We haven't heard from you in a while.  Come let us know how you are.  I am hoping you didn't flare (you were afraid/suspecting you were heading into one).  Keep us posted.

I haven't posted in awhile but i am diagnosed now for almost 2 years!  I have had the buzzing/vibnration on my inner thigh for about a week now.  It doesn't hurt, just highly irritating.  I finally put a call into the nuero to see what this is!  I have had pains in the legs but never buzzing!  I will keep you all posted with what he comes back with!
