Hello everyone,
I've just registered & signed on for the frist time. I was diagnosed just over 3 years ago. I stopped working 1 year ago & am on long term disability. I am married & have 2 young boys. The first few months being off work were horrible for me. I got through that & did pretty good for a while. Now I'm at a different time in my life. Not being at work & interacting with other men & adults is becoming quite difficult for me. My friends & other men are at work during the day. I am finding myself hanging out with some of my wifes girlfriends & their children. At times I don't mind that, but what I think I really need is other guys my age with MS or not & perhaps with kids to hang out with. B.S. & have coffee with. Watch a hockey game & have a beer. Stuff like that. I am 37 & I live in Nanaimo. I'd love to hear from anyone in the same boat as me. Thanx for your time.

Hey Adam

Welcome to the board. I feel for u and completely understand u'r need to interact not only with other ms'ers but with other men. Have u looked into u'r local MS Society?? Maybe there is a support group near u where u can connect? We're so glad u'r here and hope u'll find support and the connections u'd like, but please do check into some face to face connections like the MS Society.

Thanks Rhonda. I have attened 3 different MS groups  in my town. So far I am the youngest & 100% of the men there are a lot older than I. I kind of want someone around my age.
Thanx,
  Adam

Adam,

Please check out out other new member, Dave.  He has posted above.  He is just a few years older than you are.  I hope you two can support each other.  Welcome to the forum.  We have a live chat every Monday night at 6PM central.  I hope to see you there.

Hi Adam,

I would say welcome but I am new here too. Its tough being on the younger side with this disease. I have found lots of support online but I have found very few in my age bracket (41). I am pretty new to MS. August 2008 was my first exacerbation. If there is anything I can do to help please don't hesitate to ask.
