Hello all,

I wanted to give an update on my new prescription for LDN. I started taking it January 24th at night like prescribed, but my sleep was disturbed too much. I called the pharmacist and asked if I could take it in the morning instead. He said in order for the drug to work optimally, I would need to take it at bedtime, but if taken in the morning, I would get a little benefit from the drug. I gave myself a few days to catch up on sleep and recoup, and then I switched to morning dosing.

Since January 28th, I've felt amazing. The pain on my left side and jaw is nearly gone. Usually by 8:00 p.m. I'm curled up on the couch in pain with a heating pad or ice pack. My bladder is much better (leakage), and my fatigue is nominal. It's amazing. I still take a nap at 1:30, but I really feel like I am living a pretty regular life right now. I'm able to cook dinner, grocery shop, clean house (and enjoy it??!!), play with the kiddo and have energy to talk to my hubby when he gets home. AND -- this is crazy -- I've stopped my evening "pain pill" of a glass of wine. Lovely.

I just want to spread the word and encourage everyone to check out LDN online. It's not approved for MS YET, but it is in process. My neurologist at Kaiser prescribed it after several of her patients kept requesting it. My Dr. did say that she didn't feel it helped stop the progression of the disease, but that it may help with the symptoms. I can still take Copaxone with LDN, but if someone is on an immune system lowering drug (Avonex, etc.), I think there needs to be a washout period. Since I'm getting used to LDN now, I may work up the nerve to try switching to the evening dosage and really see what this pill can do.

Anyhow, I just wanted to spread some positive news and hopefully help others who may also respond well to this drug. Together, we can beat MS!

rhonda,

Thanks for your support! My husband and I are still in this disbelief mode. It's been weird, but in a totally cool way. I'll keep you updated.

You all rock :)

I live in Cambridge, Ontario and my doctor refuses to write me a script for LDN. I have MS and desperately want to try it. Can anyone refer me to a doctor that believes in Low Dose Naltrexone, thankyou.

Hi chipdelight,

When I was researching LDN, I know I came across sites that had some Dr. resources to write the LDN script. I've been on so many sites for LDN and can't recall how I got there, but maybe just search "low dose naltrexone prescription" and start from there. Again, I KNOW I've seen mention of how to get the medicine if your Dr. won't help. Just don't give up! I forgot to take the pill today, and WOW, what a difference.

Good luck and keep us updated.

Gooogle... "The LDN Homepage." This is where I found the Pharmacy that I chose. Irmat Pharmacy, on Park Avenue New York. If your DR has any questions? he can speak with Marcie, the compuonding Pharmacist Provide the LDN Homepage to your DR. Mine refused. I worked with Dr. John Sullivan in PA.

Wanting to be out in the beautiful weather, I washed my car today, just for the fun of it. The LDN is new for me, first week, and although still sick, feeling improvement. Never could have done this without the LDN. All sugars, including fruit...keep out of your diet. It helps tremendously. I just could not stick with it this time, but cut back dramatically. But with the LDN? I am feeling so optimistic, that I should be able to remove all sugars.

My best to all. Read thoroughly the LDN Homepage. A nice start. And go slow with your treatment. If you feel ill, slow down. Better to take it slow, then Herx out and need to start all over.

Herx?.....Do you have lyme disease?  That is not a word you hear associtated with MS.  We have a very supportive lyme board here.  Feel free to post there as well, if you would like.  Welcome to HealingWell.
